Guest guest
Howdy y'all, Since I last posted regarding this subject, I'm now scheduled to have the Roux En Y (HJ) on Monday, September 10th. With a PTC preceeding it on Friday September 7th. All attempts at getting through the blocked CBD have failed. Just two days ago I started to appear a bit yellow in the eyes, BM's were light, urine dark amber, skin still looked OK. That's now improved since then and I think my eye color is getting back to normal, BM's and urine also. I think I stupidly allowed myself to dehydrate to much. My wife Vicki is now reminding me often to drink water. I know this Roux En Y is going to be no fun, but as I stated in previous emails, my biggest concern to cancer. Please include me in your prayers for no cancer and a successful surgery. Thank you all ... - 45 PSC, Crohns 2000

Guest guest
Howdy Everyone, A big thanks to Barby, Tim, , and Kelli for your replys. This has been like riding a Roller-Coaster and a Merry-Go-Round at the same time! Please bare with my story. I've included my original posting. I went into The Jewish Hospital on Friday 9/7/07 with the intent of getting a PTC, then returning on Monday 9/10/07 for a Roux-En-Y (HJ) in an effort to determine if cancer is blocking my CBD and to allow the liver to output easier. The one to two hour procedure (PTC) turned into a five hour procedure. I was semi consious and talking things over with the doctor during the procedure. It turns out my entire left lobe is not functioning, the right lobe is compromised but still working and the blocked CBD could not be gotten through from above. They could not even get into the left lobe to image it. They checked me into the hospital on Friday and said they wanted to try a PTC again on Monday as well as do a brushing in both lobes. And the operation is cancelled. Mondays PTC, also five hours, was unsuccessful in both getting into the left or brushing either lobe (brush was too big, ducts too small). They did however get a bigger catheter through the right lobe (5 French). They finally let me go home yesterday Tuesday 9/11/07 in the PM (five days in the hospital for PTCs). Before they released me with a catheter in my liver and a drain bag on my side, the head of the Transplant team, Dr. Marvin, stated that they had done everything they could short of exploratory surgery and it was time for another opinion. He then referred me to The Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. His associate Dr. Beull had contacted a doctor on the Transplant team up there, Dr. Rossen. So in the last two days my wife and I have been going nuts trying to round up records, reports, images, etc. I'm supposed to be there on Monday in the AM for a liver transplant evaluation (my second series of these tests). Then on Thursday and Friday I'm supposed to have an EUS and an ERCP. Hopefully they can have success with the blocked CBD. I seem to have sprung a leak around the catheter in my side and they re-admitted me today for a fixup tomorrow. They are talking about the possibilty of a living donor since I'm not sick enough yet (except for a failing liver and CBD). I'll be going to Mayo on Sunday with either my dad or my wife. Does anyone have recommendations for lodging? Please keep me in y'alls prayers for the diagnosis of no cancer now in both the CBD and the left lobe. May God bless y'all - 45 PSC, Crohns 2000 >> > Howdy y'all,> > Since I last posted regarding this subject, I'm now scheduled to have> the Roux En Y (HJ) on Monday, September 10th. Guest guest
, I am sending prayers your way....you are going to the best place. I have stayed in alot of different places. I like to stay somewhere around the Mayo so I can walk back and forth. I stayed at the Hilton when I was just there in August, it was pretty nice and it's connected to the skyway, The Best Western Soldiers Field is nice and they have transportation to and from the Mayo. There are alot of Hotels in Rochester, I usually go online and book it that way. I did the same thing when I was getting ready to go to the Mayo with rounding up tests and xrays, but they didn't even look at them, they ran their own tests. I think I had 2 days of testing, first day was blood work, and a MRI. Met with Dr. Gores and then the next day ERCP and a EUS. Met with Dr. Gores and then got results. The Mayo is unbelievable and you will be amazed. Good luck and prayers are coming your way.
