Munchausen's and pets

That British study they mentioned in the article you found is one I think I've

read before, in which the children of parents who were suspected of Munchausen's

by Proxy were relocated to specially-modified hospital rooms that were totally

but unobtrusively wired for video from multiple angles, and wired for sound,

and were under careful observation 24/7... and sure enough the mothers (I think

in every case it was the mother who was the perp) actually harmed her own little

child (sometimes severely) when she thought she was alone and unobserved. What

astonished the British researchers conducting this study was how widespread this

horrible disorder is, how many perps they found, and they found perps in every

hospital they investigated.

So, somehow it doesn't surprise me that this MbP behavior might show up in the

treatment of pets as well. It saddens me, but, I'm not surprised.

I can relate to this.

My nada was diagnosed with MbP this year as she has been poisoning us, giving us

intentional allergic reactions, putting soap on our toothbrushes, putting

chemicals in our laundry and otherwise harming us for as long as I can remember.

I was on 7 allergy and asthma meds when I left for college, now I'm on one OTC

allergy med.

She starved me throughout high school and my little brother when he was a young

child, fattened up my sister, tried to kill my diabetic brother a couple times,

once mixed cashews in the peanuts that he used as a recovery food (he is deathly

allergic to tree nuts), and put fragrances that gave my dad and I asthma attacks

in our sheets and put ammonia in the sheets my brother.

We didn't figure out how she treated our beloved pets until much later.

We got poodles with Dad wouldn't let nada have any more babies (there are 4 of

us, all about 2 years apart, which is fascinating as that's about when kids

start to separate and establish their sense of self) and our miniature poodle

puppy mysteriously fell out of a stroller when she was still very young. Nada

took her to the vet, but it was too late for them to pop her shoulder back into

place and the poor baby walked with a limp her entire life.

When that dog was about 2 years old (!!!) we got a standard poodle, and this one

was a rescue who Nada (ironically) insisted had been abused. The poor thing was

anxious all the time, afraid of everyone and threw up a lot. Nada insisted the

dog had a " sensitive stomach " and would try all sorts of new foods and medicines

for it.

When Nada was forcibly removed from the house, we discovered that the poor dog

threw up when she was starving and that Nada had been starving her! When we

dropped the dogs off for her to groom them and spend time with them for the

weekend (She's told my brother and myself she likes the dogs better than us),

the standard poodle was missing a tooth and was very jittery and had a hard time

eating. We have our suspicious that she hit the dog.

I also have my suspicious that she killed my sister's hamster and said my

hamster killed it because " I didn't feed it enough " but I can't prove anything.

That was such a traumatic day.

Basically, what she did to me, my siblings, my dad and our pets is so sick and

wrong. There is a special place in hell waiting for the people who intentionally

hurt the ones who depend on them for protection and nurturing. The court

psychiatrist said she had never seen a case so bad in her life, and it sickens

me to know that there are more out there like her.

Sadly, I see this quite often (I'm a vet tech). It's heart rending.

OMG! What an awful awful story! Good grief, I'm glad you're out of that

house. Wow, she needs some serious help!

So sorry you had to go through all that. She tried to poison you?! Is she

still trying? DO NOT leave any food or drink unattended near her and don't

eat anything she hands you LOL. But, I'm sure you know that all ready.

Scaaaary.

I'm NC w/ Nada now, but she legitimately tried to kill my all-bad brother on

several occasions.

She kept trying to poison me after I left home - sending me care packages of

muffins laced with tree nuts or laytex bandaids (both things I'm very allergic

to) or just snacks that mysteriously made me or anyone I shared them with sick.

Thanks for the concern, Mia. I'm so glad to be rid of her.

All I can say is " Holy Freaking Cow! " I think that that is an example of the

true Witch nada, the " Medean Mother " who literally attempts to kill (and

sometimes succeeds in killing) her own children, or attempts to figuratively

" kill " or cripple her children emotionally by destroying her child's

self-esteem. That is psychopathic behavior, I'm pretty sure. I'm so sorry you

and your sibs had to endure such treatment and weren't rescued from her very

early in life. Its literally a miracle that you survived.

Oh wow, I'm GLAD you are NC with her now. What a horrible situation to be

in.

I'm also NC with my nada. And also glad to be rid of her.
