Guest guest
I was recently switched from compazine to Zofran for nausea. Unfortunately I've now lost my appetite, making me think I might not be on a strong enough dose of Zofran. I'm taking 4 mg. Is anyone else taking it, and if so, how much are they taking? I've lost about 5-6 pounds in less than 2 weeks. -Marie _________________________________________________________________ A place for moms to take a break! http://www.reallivemoms.com?ocid=TXT_TAGHM & loc=us
Guest guest
Hi! I am new to this group. My daughter takes Zofran 4mg. as needed for cyclic vomiting syndome (they think she has it). What is the nausea caused from? was diagnosed with Autoimmune Hepatitis at the age of 3, then Portal hypertension at the age of 8, she is almost 10 and now they are questioning the autoimmune hepatitis because she hardly has any scarring, but her lfts are always elevated. She recently has had another biopsy (with a new doctor - livertransplant doc from U of M)and has told us that she has psc, and now active signs of AIH. Anyways, do you start throwing up and can't stop until you take compazine or zofran? That is how is. Could this be because of the psc and not cyclic vomiting syndrome? If the bile ducts back up can that cause you to start throwing up??? > > > > I was recently switched from compazine to Zofran for nausea. Guest guest
I don't know the answer to that, but I have PSC and when I do start vomiting, it is constant every 10-15 minutes until I get Zofran down my system. Guest guest
Hi , I'm so sorry to hear what your daughter is going through. I guess I've been sick most of my life so it really pains me to hear that there are young children out there battling PSC & AIH & UC. I've never heard of cyclic vomiting syndrome, so I couldn't say if your daughter has it. It can take years for a diagnosis of PSC, so it's possible your daughter has had this for some time. As to what causes the nausea, I'm not sure, but I think it's the PSC. However it could also be due to one of the medicines I'm taking. I've had nausea for 2-3 years now, and have been taking compazine for probably 2 years. I was recently switched to Zofran, 4 mg. I'm supposed to take the Zofran every day, once a day. I haven't been throwing up, but unfortunately, I'm still qweezy most of the time, and have no appetite, so it's hard to eat anything. If your daughter is throwing up, she should probably be on either compazine or Zofran on a regular basis so she doesn't throw up. She may not be able to articulate the qweeziness or nausea. I do sometimes regurgitate in my mouth a little, but I stop from actually throwing up. Sometimes this happens with virtually no warning, so I imagine the same may be happening with your daughter, except she really throws up. -Marie > > >Anyways, do you start throwing up and can't stop until you take >compazine or zofran? Guest guest
Is your daughter's spleen enlarged? My son's was so big it was pushing on his stomach which gave him nausea. Good luck.
