Oh i am so sorry to hear this, i know what you are going through. I

have similar itching as well and i've been clawing at myself all the

time. Are you scratching at night? My doctor prescribed doexpin which

is actually an antidepressant but in really small doses has a really

strong antihistamine effect. It's helped me a little bit, maybe ask

your practioner about that.

I also seem to be more itchy before my periods so that could be a

factor. A lot of times i have crazy itching and i don't necessarily

have an infection..but its probably good you are checking just in

case. Sorry i don't have more advice, but you definitely have my

support. I was just about to post as well about itching to see what

suggestions people had. Hang in there <3

Thanks, at least I know someone can relate to what I'm going through. I get my period around the 14th or 15th, so I'm clueless as to why the itching occurs in the very beginning of the month for the past two months.

Not much of a suggestion about itching. My doc told me DONT Do IT so it takes some self control. A & D Ointment is good for everything is what another doc told me. So when I feel burning I take my bath and then use the hair dryer to blow the area dry and slather up with it! It seems to offer relief. maybe it will help with the itch??? hugs, ML

HI Bayarea ... ;)

Just wondering if you've had a biopsy for that itch? It sure sounds like it could be lichen sclerosis or lichen planus hon. Especially if that itch has been going on a long time. It might even be a fungal infection of the skin (not necessarily from the vagina so if it is a culture of the vaginal fluids that isn't going to help, tho good to rule out of course... I sure feel for you.

The Pramasone is a fairly mild steroid hon... and isn't expected to work in a day or two, maybe if you give it a chance it might help. It should, steroids are really excellent for itch as long as they're not overused and that's not a potent one.

Also a woman I know (in fact several) swears by is Benedryl 'gel' available OTC.. it might help too hon and keep Ice and antihistamines in mind too. I'm so sorryDee ~ ; (

I haven't had a biopsy as of yet, I had it scheduled two months ago but chickened out because I was scared of the pain...I'm a wimp I know. I'm going to call and schedule an appt. again for either this month or next month. One of my OBGYN's advised me to have a biopsy done due to a tiny patch of skin that had discoloration. Everytime I get an itch its always in the same area, the bottom inner lips by the vaginal opening. Maybe I have a skin condition down their, my specialist at Stanford believes I have atopic dermatitis. I can get an allergic reaction to anything, food, wipes, toilet paper, detergant, soap or anti-fungal creams etc....I'm sure most of you have the same issue with this. I could have very well got a yeast infection from eating to much carbs and sugars which I 've done for the past few weeks. I was on a chocolate kick, M & M'S, Kit Kat, Reeses, brownies and eating to much bread....BOOM!
