Guest guest
I posted on this before and i've been researching it and think that i may have folliculitis. I seem to get these little acne like bumps on top of my vulva and in between the lips a lot. Does anyone else get this, and what is the best way to manage them? I do not know if it is caused by blocked sweat glands or what. My doctor didn't seem to pay any heed to them. They start out as being itchy and then become rather painful. Eventually the bumps come to a head and go away but they usually come back in the same spot weeks later. Any suggestions?
Guest guest
I'm sure it's caused by the topical medications you're using. But you would have to outweigh the risks and benefits of discontinuing them. Steroid cream caused the pimples for me, folliculitis was one of the side effects listed. Also petroleum based lidocaine caused pimples. The medications clog the pores. I had the same thing, the pimples would come back in the exact same spot. The ones from the steroid cream finally went away, but I still have the one from the petroleum that keeps coming back, I think eventually it will just go away, the others ones did but it took about 3 months after discontinuing the cream. > > I posted on this before and i've been researching it and think that i > may have folliculitis. Guest guest
I just wanted to say that I get these too, and I don't use *any* topical medications currently. So this might not be the cause for everyone.~~ I'm sure it's caused by the topical medications you're using. But you would have to outweigh the risks and benefits of discontinuing them. Guest guest
, How often do you get them and have you been able to do anything about them? Thanks. Also in response to lulu, i'm not really using any topical medical except the occaisional hyrdocortisone cream so i dunno if that's causing it, i haven't used it lately though. Could it also be caused by blocked sweat glands or just a reaction to an ingredient in something else? I've been using vitamin E cream as a lubricant because i was told it was harmless but i just realized it may contain some type of fragrance in it... > > > I'm sure it's caused by the topical medications you're using. Guest guest
Dear Starrydust, > How often do you get them and have you been able to do anything about them? It varies. I get them fairly regularly, although not in any particular pattern it seems. Sometimes I won't have any for a month, and other times I'll have several at a time and they come and go over the course of a week or two. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find anything to do for them really. Popping them helps when they're particularly large, as they go away faster and hurt less after they've been popped. But, I should warn you that popping them hurts! (It hurts to touch them at all, so this makes sense though). Mostly, I don't really do anything particular when I get them. My doctor said the only thing I can do is apply a warm wet washcloth. But it doesn't really seem to give me much relief from them. > Could it also be caused by blocked sweat glands or just a reaction to an ingredient in something else? That is exactly what my doctor said is causing it, actually, so yes it can be. ~~
