Guest guest
Hi all, I have taken some time away as I have been getting Neurofeedback treatment to deal with the stress and trauma of growing up with BPs. I do want to let people know about this treatment as it has helped me greatly! This treatment has taken that feeling that your FOO won't give you any peace because they are in your head all the time, or that constant feeling of anxiety and never being able to relax which I have had for years--away. I have completed 8 out of 12 prescribed sessions and am now considered in a maintenance phase of treatment. Treatment is affordable (I pay $25 per session)and all I have to do is listen to music and watch lights on a screen for about 30 minutes. I've accessed my treatment through the local university. The doctor running the program describes the treatment as similar to cleaning up a computer hard drive. When we experience trauma, it changes the brain's wave patterns and it becomes less efficient. Treatment gives the brain feedback so it learns to function in a more healthy way. Just wanted to share this with anyone interested, and while this was amazing and life changing for me, I recognize it might not be for everyone. Guest guest
Is this kind of treatment something you need a doctor's prescription to undergo, or is it " over the counter " so to speak? Is it considered medical treatment? Just curious, because I'm pretty sure my Sister received some neurofeedback treatment when she was seeing a psychologist a few years back, and she thought it was OK, although she said she felt she got more out of the talk therapy. Her psychologist happened to have had a Cluster B mother himself, so, he was very empathetic to Sister's situation. I like the concept of " cleaning up the computer's hard drive " , I can relate to that! -Annie > > Hi all, > > I have taken some time away as I have been getting Neurofeedback treatment to deal with the stress and trauma of growing up with BPs.
