O.K., so I phoned my neurologist about this steroid issue

He said that he prescribes enough steroid over a longenough period of time with a long and slow enough taperdown period of time that none of his patients has ever (he is about 60 years of age) complained to him of any"downer effect," and indeed that he has never heard theterm before.His advice to me, his patient, was that should I ever experience this, that he would put me on a low dose, a maintenance dose for several weeks, and then taperthat down, for example, from 10 mg of Prednisone divided into two doses daily, to 5 mg of Prednisoneonce a day, and even, if necessary to cut each 5mgtablet in half for once a day.I know; he is talking only to me, his patient, so I am leaving his name out of this, but you get the idea.He
