Guest guest
I am also 1/16th --Cherokee on my mother's side. We know my great gramma was full blooded Cherokee but we have never been able to get the paper trail either. I do have photos of her and I met her when I was 4 (and I remember her). Genealogy is a passion and it's easy to get hooked. The info I got today just came to me out of the blue. It's cool! SharonThis email is a natural hand made product. Guest guest
The funny part of all the genealogy stuff.. is that it's made me a terrific "snoop" when it comes to finding out all kinds of information... on everybody but my own family.. LOL.. But I DO love to work on it... Found 's Grandfather's death certificate in West Virginia.. have a jpg of it somewhere.. But the city or town of his father's birth does NOT exist on the current day West Virginia map.. Though I was able to kinda sorta pinpoint it from stories ( told me that his dad told them).. and found the general area to be Lorentz, West Virginia.. but therein comes the brick wall.. As for my own family tree.. Dad always said he wasn't related to ANY of the 's from the area he grew up in.. when IN FACT he's related to ALL of them!!! Ludwig/Ludwick and nah Hart were THE first of the 's to come on over the mountains in PA.. and she was the mother of TWENTY living children... when she died she had over 200 grandchildren... And unfortunately.. there were only like 6 or 7 families in that mountain area in the late 1700's..(some of them served in the Revolution).. and the unfortunate part.. is that they HAD to marry someone.. so all of them eventually became intermingled.. to the point that not only are my sons my sons.. but they are also distant cousins!!!.. And there is some Native American (not sure which nation though) in the family.. there was something in there about Indian .. way back back back.. and it all become hard to trace after awhile.. But Sharon.. if you have any searching you need done here in PA.. I'll be more than happy to help out with it.. I always seem to have better luck with other families than my own.. Guest guest
try state and county historical societies for towns that are no longer there - they have a wealth of information there are two parts of the Cherokee - the ones that stayed on the East Coast and the others are in Tahlequah, OK my heart sister is part of the Black Cherokees (slaves) and I am half Cherokee - both from Tahlequah - neither one of us have checked it out God, grant me the strength of eagles wings, the faith and courage to fly to new heights, and the wisdom to rely on his spirit to carry me there.
