Guest guest
Watched this clip of one of Stockholm manifestation against the SD success in the election, and felt a little better seeing the massive turnout. Strange choice of music with the clip, perhaps. But the ocean of people expressing chock and disgust with Nazis in the parliament was hope inspiring. It looked the same in all the big cities of Sweden yesterday. People are not only passively upset about it, but outraged enough to hit the street. In principle, I am all for the system with a multitude of political parties, I feel that makes the political power reflect the views of the people in a good way. But in this very exceptional situation, when 6% of the elected/voters can sort of hold the rest hostage it is a bit problematic. Not sure how to solve it though. There have been talk about a "WWII-solution", referring to the fact that during the war all the pro-democratic (non-nazi) parties of Sweden ruled Sweden together, to keep the Nazis out and to keep a stable government. Reasoning that in that exceptional situation political differences could not be allowed to distract, divide and weaken the good forces. Being pro-democracy and working together to keep Sweden out of the horrors of those days had to be more important than being left or right. Maybe it's time for that again. We'll see. love/Reb
