Guest guest
Hi - I have a 5 1/2 year old son who has been trained to " pee " in the potty for 2 1/2 years. But he absolutely refuses to sit on the potty. He does sometimes have constipation issues. I'm at my wits end. The doctors say, " don't force him. " He has absolutely no desire to sit and refuses. When he has to have a BM, he tells me, I put on a diaper and he goes to the bathroom and goes. I was hoping that this summer would be the " magic time " when I'd convince him to sit. I've tried stickers, rewards, coins. Sometimes I feel like I'm pushing too much. Sometimes I feel like I'm not pushing enough. I just feel that if he learned to " sit " he'd go anywhere. I know if we are out he'd never say he has to go and would hold it in. He's starting kindergarten but it is only 1/2 so I'm not so worried. But he really has to learn. I've got it in my head that if I don't teach him now how to sit.....it's going to take even longer. I'm sure if he was going more regularly, that it might make this easier. I've tried, MOM (he gags), POM (he hates it even mixed with other juices), dole fruit cups (they worked but he got sick of them). If anyone has any advice, feel free to let me know. Thanks so much.
