Guest guest
Hi all, I know this is completely off topic, but I just had to mention it. " Secret of the Cave " , a movie my brother co-wrote, produced, and was cinematographer for, has just come out on DVD. It was a project that the film school which he is the head of did, and it actually won a rather major award (the Crystal Heart Award, from Heartland Film Festival). Anyhow, I know I'm biased, but I think it is a really good movie. The primary audience is kids, but it worked for me too. It's got positive family values, and comes from a Christian perspective. For more info on it you can look at www.secretofthecave.com and see photos, trailers etc. as well as links to purchase it. It's also available widely on the internet from retailers like Amazon.com, as well as in brick and mortar retailers and video rental stores. To make this post a little more on topic, my brother has also been shooting interviews with me over the last few years as I got closer to liver transplant, and then right before and after the transplant itself, with the idea of making a sort of mini documentary (although this one would be for family and friends not for the mass market!) So check it out, especially if you have kids or grandkids! athan
Guest guest
athan, I think the mini-documentary your brother is doing on your journey should be considered for a wider audience than just family and friends. There are many families going through something similar and it would no doubt be beneficial for a wider audience. It's not just others fighting PSC, but other people who are facing progressive diseases, whether or not it leads to a transplant. The film could be especially important if it makes more people consider being an organ donor. I mentioned to my brother that its difficult to get a liver tranplant if you need a new liver and he was surprised - he thought everyone was an organ donor. -Marie PS: I'll keep my eyes open for Secret of the Cave. _________________________________________________________________ A place for moms to take a break! http://www.reallivemoms.com?ocid=TXT_TAGHM & loc=us
