Guest guest
I went to the sleep center at Mayo recently and a doctor prescribed me Ambien to help my insomnia. I was checking on the side-effects and noticed there was a warning about liver disease...and you should talk to your doc about it. I asked the doctor when I met with him about side effects w/ my condition and he was not worried. Does anyone have any experience with this, or can anyone give me their input? Thanks as always for the help! Jed PSC 5/2007
Guest guest
Liver enzyme elevation was seen infrequently (1/100-1000) and enzyme elevation plus elevated biliruben rarely (<1/1000). These results are based on 3000+ healthy volunteers. There is no way to know cause and effect because a healty volunteers. One might have had a gallstone get stuck and so who knows if ambien caused it. While we are talking about Ambien CR. I think that it is a fraud to maintain patent life. The up the dose 20%, coat half of it, and then show pharmicodynamic curves showing higher levels at 6 hours. Just so they can continue to sell it at a high price. Ambien in any form is not perfect because some tolerence develops and there is a mild withdrawl on discontinuation, not to mention sleep walking and sleep driving. Ramelteon is a better sleep aid because it mimic natural melitonin and doesn't make anyone feel drugged, there is no withdrawl. It does have a liver warning. Not that it causes harm but is metabolized by the liver so in severe liver disease it might be in the blood longer. That's my 2 cents worth Von \ > > I went to the sleep center at Mayo recently and a doctor prescribed me > Ambien to help my insomnia.
