If anyone is interested in NOT using drugs for anxiety any one of the following can be used

Pantothenic Acid 500 mg two to three times daily as needed

DL Phenylalanine (therapeutic dosages 2000 to 3000 mg.)

GABA - 1500 mg. daily (more if needed or less)

Oxytocin spray (can be ordered by prescription or in a homeopathic)

High anxiety can be triggered by high salts (salt conductivity) which causes the nervous system to be sympathetic dominant (fight or flight)

High anxiety can also be the results of Low Blood Sugar which causes mood swings and anger

Both of these conditions will cause the adrenals to exhaust which will further exacerbate the high anxiety, so when treating either of these conditions the adrenals must also be supported. Kidneys and adrenals will elicit the emotion of fear and anxiety. When someone has exhausted adrenals this will also cause intercellular dehydration. So it is important to hydrate with water AND minerals/electrolytes when dealing with anxiety.

Many children with autism don't even drink water and most have abnormal mineral deficiencies/transport due to the mercury toxicity.

Anxiety is also part of the obsessive compulsive disorder which will increase as the child moves into puberty due to the high hormones (testosterone, DHEA, etc.) Keeping the hormones in normal range will also help keep the anxiety down and at a controllable level.

I'm afraid to give my son natural remedies as well if I don't get the proper

info from a specialist. Lots of people post " take this vitamin or this herb " but

I don't know what anyones qualifications are. medical doctors don't know about

tuis stuff which I still don't understand. I can't go to a " natural " doctor as

they're not covered under my insurance and I wouldn't know who to go to anyway.

He is suffering. I will try cognitive behavioral therapy until I find something

else. Thanks and please tell me more.

Biomedical means addressing autism by looking at the biological causes in the body and treating those causation factors. These children have abnormal biochemistry and if you normalize the biochemistry then you will begin to see changes in your child. They usually improve. pH test lab website has the testing which is a very inexpensive way to approach biomedical (as opposed to using the conventional DAN physicians) This test is done with urine and saliva. It looks at the underlying foundational biochemistry - protein (nitogen) levels, ammonia in the ureas, blood sugar (carbohydrate metabolism), salt conductivity, the cell wall, mitochondrial, metabolic and digestive enzymes, minerals, major hormones, major neurotransmitters and body organs (GI yeast overgrowth, spleen, liver, adrenals kidneys, pancreas, etc.) plus intercellular dehydration. A nutritional and dietary protocol is provided to address the issues. Once the foundational biochemistry is normalized then it's easier to move forward with other issues such as detoxing heavy metals, parasites, etc. All of our kids have hypotonia - low muscle tone which can improve by increasing protein levels and the mitochondria. If you were trying to bake a cake and you didn't have all the ingredients, THEN you are not going to get the finished product that you want. It's important to treat the medical issues our children are having. It only gives them a much better fighting chance at recovery and improving whatever skills you are trying to improve educationally, behaviorally, or therapeutically. Many times by addressing the biomedical issues the overloaded sensory issues will also attenuate as well. If you are interested in more information you can contact me. badillo9@...

You raise a valid point. I too have seen many emails here saying "try this and try that", but in reality too much of certain supplements can be just as harmful as medicated prescriptions. Actually, even worse, because at least the medicated drugs fall under FDA regulations, vitamins and supplements do not. I too think that if your going to go the biomedical route, you need a doctor's assistance. Most of these types of doctors don' t take insurance, but I think there may be a few that do.

Anyone that knows one that takes insurance, please share with the group?

Thanks.

DAN Dr.'s know all about natural remedies and actually specialize in it. My DAN Dr. is a regular MD and is covered by my insurance but he is not a insurance provider so you have to pay the bill up front and then file the insurance yourself.

I can only tell you what I would do, but the first stop I would make would be to see a DAN Dr. Mine is Dr. Dan Rossignal and he is excellent. He is in Melboune but worth the drive. I know that there is one in the Weston area named Dr. Udell. I have not used him but I have heard good things about him. Natural remedies, just as their prescription counterparts should be monitored by a qualified physician.

We can all tell you what we do for our kids, but each of the children are unique and should be evaluated by a physician before starting any kind of med, natural or otherwise. Dr. Rossignal is awesome and I highly recommend him. Additionally, he is the father of two kids on the spectrum so he is uniquely qualified to work with our population. His # is .

Good Luck and God Bless!
