Guest guest
My hepa told me that people can get infections in the bile ducts and some other stuff (ascities, cancer, etc) but he didn't tell me what types of things to look out for. Probably because I'm really early still but I don't know. I'm wondering because I feel like crap, lol. What's new huh? But really, my RUQ pain is worse than it usually is and the darvocet just isn't cutting it. And tummy's really bloated (not tender though) and I'm so nauseous (more than usual). So I'm not sure if this is normal or not, or if I'm just getting a stomach bug, but the URQ pain you wouldn't get with a stomach bug, right? I don't think I have a fever or anything. Anyway....sorry that got long. What do I need to look out for??? Thanks! PSC 8/07 PBC 10/06 (probably)
Guest guest
Could be sludgy bile - are you getting enough liquids? Thickened bile is more difficult to pass through our (already) narrowed ducts. I've been told to get myself to the ER if I have fever, chills with dark (cola-colored) urine, pale stools, URQ pain (although mine was always central). Not much fun, for sure. Some people also report vomiting with their cholangitis episodes. Something to ask your hep next time - keep a list, or you'll forget (of course, that may not be a problem for someone as young as you!). Got a pescription of Cipflox and felt better very quickly. HHHAAAA a couple of weeks ago I felt like you, fatigued - just a bit more than usual, darker urine and lighter coloured bowel motions - just a bit, RUQ pain - but not really bad, nausea - perhaps a bit worse than usual. I think I was thinking reasonably clearly and I was making sure I drank lots of water. Then out of the blue I started shaking.....took my temperature which was up very slightly, hmmm I thought the PSC group would say go immediately to the emergency Dept... which is about an hour away, by then I was vomiting, had bad RUQ pain, a temp of 39.7C (103F) and much to my embarrasment fainting on the floor with an emergency team descending on me. Was taken in immediately (ith my folder of blood test results/letters etc - it was good as the staff knew immediately how to spell PSC - grin). Spent the next 6 days on IV Meropenem and Metronidazole in hosptial. The inital LFT blood tests they took showed not much difference to what they are usually, in fact they went down. At home now feeling better, but I am amazed how quickly the infection took hold. I am getting my strength back slowly. Thinking back I would not have gone to the Doctor, as there seemed to be no particular symptom that would justify (even in my eyes) pescribing an antibiotic. I am going to discuss the lead up to the attack with my Doctor when I go back for a follow up appointment and see what he says. Sorry I haven't answered your question. But I think after my minor drama I would go and ask for some antibiotics. Hope this helps. from the bottom of the world in New Zealand

Guest guest
Hi , I've tried twice to respond to your posting and kept loosing my internet connection. Sorry. I can't help alot with symptoms but checking for fever (sounds like you have one), checking the color of stools, urine, and the whites of your eyes, and staying hydrated are all things we can do without the help of doctors. It sounds like now is the time for you to see yours! I understand the 4 kids part, we have 4 kids also. Can you get help from family, friends or church to watch the kids while you care for yourself? Please don't delay. I'll pray for you and your family also. - 45 PSC, Crohns 2000 > > Thanks you guys. Now I have a fever, lol. Jinxed myself. I woke up > at 1 amd and my fever is 103.2. Guest guest
THanks for checking on me. :-) I went to the ER and was told I had a stomach virus that was going around but after 4 days I still had the fever and stuff so went to my PCP and talked to her. My LFTs were still okay but she prescribed cipro just to cover our bases. I am feeling better. Cipro itself makes me sick but I'm getting better. Still feel yucky. Not sure if it was cholangitis but it was something and I don't want to take any chances. Thanks! 24 from NE PSC 8/07 PBC 10/06 (probably)
