Guest guest
Sorry I have not been able to follow this link consistently. You asked where to begin to find a therapist certified in SI- The SPD foundation has a listing of therapist- www.spdfoundation.net . I copied off a list of therapists that were listed on that web site that appeared to be in your area. Sensory problems can directly relate to obsessions and fears. Children with sensory problems often do not understand what they are feeling or experiencing internally. It takes an experienced trained therapist to determine if and what the underlying problem is. Children will associate irrational fears, OCD behaviors and other perseverative type behaviors to cope with what is happening inside of their bodies. This is more common that you might realize, especially with children on the autism spectrum. Making wrongful associations is very common. I hope this list helps: Martha H. HinkleP.O. Box 2033Inverness, FL 34451-2033 ext 2432 P. His old phd reccomended medication and i do not want to do that while he is so young. I want to find someone who can help him manage his anxiety by learning realistic thinking and other methods that maybe i am unaware of. I feel at his young age he needs to learn how to calm himself so he at least has some control over it and in the future if he needs medication we will do that but for now i need a therapist who can teach him and help him understand that his thoughts and catastrophising (?) over every little thing is what is making him anxious and teach him and i how to deal with it. thanks in advance for your help!
