I thought this seemed especially apt for this list! This article, by

Gatto, is actually about education, but it goes into detail

about where and why the family farms that used to surround and feed each

city went kaput, and who is responsible for replacing them with

mega-monoculture farms. (Yes, the two topics are connected!) *Very*
