Judy, I hate when people write in with negative posts. But I

have to just to let you know I hate these blocks and they continue to want to

give them to me also. I had the exact same one you did. Although mine had a steroid

in it. It did not help at all. And I had FIVE others that made the pain worse,

and one that made my leg drag for three months. I wish someone would

write in and say they had one and it was perfect, helped them, etc. I know a

woman who is an owner of a pain group, and she said the reason that there are

no more positive responses to queries for help, as those people are out living

their lives, having a good time, and no longer want to think about the pain

they use to have. They don’t want to go back to the lists, not even long

enough to say how well they are. So, like you I have the same question –

is there anyone that has had blocks and they have helped them????? The most I

can contribute is that I had some trigger point injections all around the

vagina and they really helped but wore off after a month.

I use Estrace and it doesn’t bother me at all.

Subject: Nerve blocks

Just a report on the nerve block I had June 6.

It was actually a

ganglion nerve block and was just anesthetic (no steroid). Later that

day, I did not feel as well as I did when I went in, and I had more

pain the next two days. Then by the fourth day afterwards I felt like

I couldn't breath and my heart was racing. My husband took me to my

doctor's office as soon as it opened and my blood pressure was

143/100. I felt nauseous and was in a cold sweat. My doctor said I

was having a reaction to the Lyrica in such high doses and probably the

nerve block also. So she gave me a presciption for a smaller dose of

Lyrica which got rid of that problem.

I do not like the reaction to the nerve block though. My low back

and legs feel weaker and there is discomfort there too now. The vulvar

inflammation has not improved and the pain hasn't improved any either.

I have another nerve block scheduled on July 8. I don't think I want

to do this at all. This same pain doctor said if this nerve site

didn't work then there were others he would try, but I don't know. Has

anyone at all had significant and prolonged relief/improvement from any

of these nerve blocks?

I was also on the prednisone which did give me some initial improvement

in the red, burning skin. The second round of prednisone did not

continue the improvement, but I haven't gone backwards either since

ending the prednisone. So, I am improved, meaning I can walk around a

little more, but I still have enough skin irritation that I can't walk

around too much or resume activities in any significant way. I am

worried also about the constant sitting and inactivity. That has got

to create more problems. I guess you can't let your mind wander too

much. This stuff is enough to deal with for now.

I still need to try the estradiol. Now that I am off the prednisone

maybe my doctor will prescribe it. Have you heard of anyone who wasn't

able to use E in this form? My skin has been so sensitive and I hate

to go backwards. Maybe I should just try it on a small area first?

Have you heard of some people who haven't been able to use Estadiol?

Thanks, Judy

I had two pudendal nerve blocks that helped. They mainly helped me to be able to tolerate PT.

I am having surgery Thursday and a nerve blocker was ordered. Does it really make the pain worse? This is my first surgery ever and I don't want to be in anymore pain than I have to be.Crystal

-Crystal,

I did think I had some reaction to the nerve block and felt worse at

first. I wasn't even sure I wanted to do the second one. But it has

been a couple of weeks now, and I do think it has actually helped the

pain some. I don't think it has helped with the condition of my skin

but it hasn't made it worse either. I do think I am able to do a

little more now than before the pain block. It seems to me though

after reading many of these messages on nerve blocks that people react

differently to them. Some people don't have problems with them. I can

say now, for me, that it does seem to be working somewhat even though I

had a tough first week.-

I hope your surgery goes so very very well and that this is the answer

for you. I do think it happens for a lot of women. Let us know how

you are doing afterwards. Hugs and prayers to you now and on Thursday.
