From what I understand, very very few patients have the ab pain from Xifaxan. My dr. started me on just one pill a day because I do tend to have such heightened reactions to meds. If Ken is not typically that sensitive to meds, I wouldn't expect it to be a problem. Lactulose was what they put me on initially for the HE, and it definitely took the edge off so that I wasn't as foggy, but it also kept me in the bathroom! (My hubby would tease me: " Remember, Dear, diarrhea is your friend now!! It's the de-fog setting for your brain.) I sure was glad when they switched me to Xifaxan. It does about 100 times better job at kicking HE out of your system! I haven't searched the messages yet, but I really am thinking that Ali's dose (pre-tx) was much higher than the usual 200 mg 3 x daily. Keep on hanging in there. Prayers are surrounding you.
