Guest guest
I got the notice from my retiree benefits department. I had been forewarned that the costs would go up but I was shocked at how much! I have two choices. One is $442 a month and the other one is $789 a month. Whew!So I won't be able to afford my insurance though my employer. I simply cannot afford either of those. That is just insurance for a single person with Medicare. Granted the insurance through my retiree benefits is really good insurance... but those prices are incredible. Before I could get that insurance for around $150 a month.hugs SharonThis email is a natural hand made product. Guest guest
It's terrible. I can't imagine who can afford that on my kind of income, which is retiree pay from the State of Arizona. Guest guest
Ouch!!!!! no.. super BIG OUCH!!!! That sounds like they've COBRA'd you out of the group plan with those prices.. Didn't you work for the state??? It's a shame that you aren't here in PA.. cause then, if I'm not sorely mistaken, you would have had benefits paid for you BY the state for the rest of your life.. I suspect that UPMC for Life is only here in the Pittsburgh area.. but doesn't your state have a list of Medicare Supplementals for the state somewhere??.. Well.. I found this: http://www.id.state.az.us/publications/2010_Medigap_Prem_Comp_Final.pdf and this: http://www.id.state.az.us/consumerlifehealth.html#seniorhealth and this is the main site where I found those two from above: http://www.id.state.az.us/consumerlifehealth.html If you don't get something out of those.. let me know and I'll see if I can't dig deeper and find something else that might help.. Guest guest
Hi Sharon, I'm so sorry for you. The new healthcare bill has made it bad for many people, and the thing that has me steaming is Andy Griffith is on TV doing commercials about how great the new Healthcare is, and mentions how it has improved Medicare, and the best was about to come. They play this at least 5 times a day/night. I think about all the people who have got their insurances cut, dropped, or can't get it. My daughter Tina has been on unemployment for over a year, has a disabled husband, and between his disability and her unemply. they were $12.00 OVER for her to get Oregon Basic. When she had to apply for UE again they cut her benefits in half, and told her she had to put her name in the "lottery" AGAIN to see if she will be qualified to get basic this time. But that could take up to another couple months. Between the 2 of them they don't make over $1000. a mo., and they have a 20 mo. old son to support. Luckily Christian was able to get health benefits thru his dads disability benefits. Is there a way you could be added to your sons health insurance seeings how you are living with him? Some insurance programs have that option. Hugs and Love, Jackie May the peace of God be with you...the love of Jesus enfold you...and the Spirit of Christ fill you. Guest guest
Hi Sharon,..Thats too bad your son doesn't have health insurance. :-( Christian is doing just fine. He never did crawl, just went from sitting to walking, and now he runs and climbs on everything. Doesn't want to play with normal toys as I have a full tote filled with building blocks, cars, etc, but he'd rather be in my cupboards taking all the canned goods out and bringing them to me. Typical....lol... Tina said she has found him in her cupboards, and yesterday he had climbed up on top of the washing machine and trying to climb in the cupboard above it. I told her he's the type of child that she can not take her eyes off for a second. I think she's starting to realize that now. Geeesh, whatever happened to playpens? He also has quite a temper and wants what he wants when he wants it. He growls if he doesn't get it, and then promptly throws a temper tantrum. Tina is a really laid back momma and takes everything in stride, but I am worn out by the time they leave. But just so you don't get the idea that he's a total terror, he's also the most loving, and cute baby that charms himself into your heart just by flashing you one of his big smiles. He laughs just as easy as he growls, so I guess it all evens out. :-) I added pictures to my album at the group home that I updated. Hugs and Love, Jackie May the peace of God be with you...the love of Jesus enfold you...and the Spirit of Christ fill you.
