Guest guest
Hi all, I don't know if anyone else happened to catch Oprah the other day with Holly and something. They were talking about autism and inoculations. I know many of us here have stated that our kids had severe reactions to these immunizations. Holly made an interesting comment that perhaps immunizations shouldn't be one size fits all. Her child was premature [ as was mine] and maybe their immune systems weren't ready to handle the shots without accounting for age and size. Could getting these shots too early, too small have messed with their immune system? I wonder if many children with autism also have immune problems? Thoughts? Guest guest
Hi, I have been contemplating this a lot lately. My daughter is 3 years old, was 10 pds, 4 ozs. at birth and has never been immunized. She was diagnosed with PSC at the beginning of August of this year. I still hold the same opinions about immunizations, but they weren't to blame for illness in this case (although I certainly wouldn't rule it out for other people). Guest guest
Sorry, Lee, we just got out of the hospital and my brain isn't quite working straight yet. I was thinking your post had to do with psc, although I should say my daughter also has Crohn's Disease, so she does have immunity problems in general. I have wondered if she would have been autistic if she had been immunized and now the doctor is talking about immunizations in the future... Guest guest
Hi ,This seems to be the case in all the polls we do looking for commonalities. Some fit and some don't.So where does that lead us? The human body is just so complex. WIth just 88 keys, look how many different tunes can come from the piano. If there are 10 to 20 thousand genes in the human body, how can we know which are the ones responsible for PSC?What combination or which one is the one that is triggered by an outside or internal event?I think that Dave is on the right track concentrating on the internal mechanisms that might be responsible as the "triggers" might be different for all of us.What is the right question or questions that might lead to the answers we need? After all the polls here, it seems that the right question might not be about something we did or did not do, had or did not have.LeeHi,I have been contemplating this a lot lately. Guest guest
Actually you were correct that I was posting in regards to PSC.I was just thinking about any connection between immunizations, auto-immune diseases and autism.By the way, I am all for immunizations but was just wondering about how and when they should give them and if it did make any difference in the immune system and autoimmune diseases.Sorry to confuse you.LeeSorry, Lee, we just got out of the hospital and my brain isn't quite working straight yet. Guest guest
Thinking back on this, Tyler our son who has PSC and had a tx in Feb. was also a premie. When we got his first set of immunizations he had a terrible reaction to them and from then on his doctor had them to do half doses at a time and get the second half dose in about 6 weeks. He did not have as much reaction from the half dose. If we only knew 24 years ago what we know now!!!!!
