Guest guest Posted September 27, 2010 Report Share Posted September 27, 2010 Hi Sharon,....I looked up other causes for ON, and it listed sinusitis as one. Do you suppose you are allergic to anything in your area that could have started the whole thing, and because you are still exposed to whatever, it will flare up again? For it to be MS connected for certain I think they need to do an MRI to look for plaques on the optic nerve. Just looking at it and seeing swelling, and irritation doesn't necessarily mean its an MS thing. BUT.....if it is the articles I read said the first line of treatment is IV steroids, and then oral so it won't come back after treatment. Just oral meds won't stop it from coming back. They use the IV to start, and then taper off with the oral. I googled "other causes for ON" and it listed many other reasons besides MS. My first thought for you were the chickens. Something in their scratch, or ? You never know when an allergy will manifest itself. I never had allergies until after I had my first MS episode. I was 31. I have bad eye pain, watery, blurry, and pressure if I don't use my allergy drops. I also get optical migraines that have jagged lightening bolts in my vision and it doesn't have the regular pain like a regular migraine, but it does hurt my eye. Those are caused from blood vessel spasms in the brain. [same as reg. migraines] So maybe your eye pain is caused by something vascular?
