Hello everyone,

I represent the Sexual Health Research Lab in the Department of

Psychology at Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario, Canada. We

study many facets of sexuality, and one area we focus heavily on is

vulvar pain. We have been conducting many studies in an attempt to

better understand the multitude of ways in which vulvar pain impacts

a woman's life. We have examined such things as pain sensitivity,

pain control, ways of dealing with pain, impact on relationships, and

recently, a treatment study investigating the effectiveness of pelvic

floor physiotherapy in reducing pain.

At this time, we are very much in need of women who experience vulvar

pain to participate in our online study. The purpose is to examine

pain, relationship and sexual functioning and body image. The results

of this study will be used to better understand how this pain impacts

women. Hopefully it will increase awareness of this problem, and

potentially impact the way vulvar pain is treated.

Participation begins with a brief telephone call to tell you more

about the study, and ask a few questions to determine if you are

eligible. Calls are completely confidential, and you may choose to

not answer any question. If you are eligible, you will be given a

login ID number and a website to visit where you complete several

questionnaires anonymously. The survey takes 45-60 minutes to

complete. Upon completion, you will be compensated with $10 (we'll

mail you a cheque). If you have a partner that would also like to

participate, we will give you a second ID number during the phone

call and your partner could complete the survey as well. In this

case, both you and your partner would each receive $15 for your

participation. If you like, we can send you the results of this study

or create a new post in this group to let you know what we have found.

I noticed in previous postings that some of you were finding the

other survey frustrating and didn't feel like it was very helpful. We

hope that you will find our survey helpful, and we would be very

interested to hear your feedback so that we can improve future

studies and continue to better our understanding of vulvar pain.

If you would like to participate or would like more information,

please send us an e-mail (shrl@...), give us a call (613-533-

3276), or reply to this post.

Thank you so much for considering helping us out, and we hope to hear

from you soon.

Sincerely,

Members of the Sexual Health Research Lab
