Hi dotbus123, I would not be too concerned about the questions at this time. I saw a sleep specialist for the first time recently and here is what I did and he seemed so pleased with it.

I had one page typewritten of all the meds I take, including the over-the-counter things, the size of the pill and how many pills per day.

I typed another sheet listing every medication I had tried for the problem that I was seeing him for on that day. I devoted one paragraph to each thing that I tried. The first word in each paragraph was the name of the med or what ever it was that I tried and it was in bold letters.

In each paragraph I told how much of the med I took and the results good, bad or otherwise. I gave all this information to the woman that was going to set up my new folder and ask her to put it in my folder along with the forms they had me fill out. I could tell he read it before he came into the exam room because of the comments he made about what I had tried. He even got the sheet out and looked at it again. This way he didn't have to asked me a lot of questions and obtain the information from me verbally.

Anything that you can have typed up and hand to them is helpful. I also had a list of my medications in my hand so when he talked about them and maybe asked again about the size pill or how much I took, the information was right in front of me. Sometimes my mind goes blank when I'm nervous. If questions come to mind while the doctor is talking to you about what you should do, stop the doctor and ask your question. Don't be afraid to interrupt. You'll do fine.

Please include your first name or a nickname the next time you write. O.K.? We don't want to call you dotbus123. :o)

Keep us posted as to how it is going for you.
