Guest guest
Hey everyone, I've been lurking for a while, but wanted to post to thank everyone for the continued ideas and info you've been posting. I haven't had time to read many over the last few months, but wanted to say thanks to whoever posted about Urethritis about 2-3 months ago. That spurred me to see a really good urologist. I have burning during urination and pain during sex. If I stand still for 15 minutes I feel like a UTI is coming on. I had gone to one Urologist in 2005 and he said that it's normal for some people to have burning during urination so I got fed up with doctors until I saw that post, and then decided to try a different doctor to see if maybe Urethritis could be it. He said it might be Urethritis and gave me Estrace (which was irritating on the urethra but fine on the vulvar area) and Doxycycline. I've been on Doxy for about a month, and have 2 weeks to go, with no improvement. I burn like crazy in the sun, though! I can't even walk my dog without an umbrella or I'll start itching where the sun hit. One of the side effects of Doxy. Anyway, I stopped the Estrace after about a week cause it was irritating and want to try all non-hormonal things first. But I still have it... he gave me a free sample which was really cool! But now I understand why people want to have it compounded - it can irritate if you're sensitive to that. Anyway, the urologist thinks that if the Doxy doesn't take away the burning during urination, I will have Urethral Diverticulum, which is scary when I research it online. I think I have a combination of that, vaginismus, and a hormonal imbalance. I will post again in a couple of months to give another update. The urologist is named Dr. Sajadi and he practices at Prince Urology Associates, http://princewilliamurology.com/ This is right down the street from me. Their claim to fame is that the head doctor there was the one that re-attached Wayne Bobbit. Ha ha! Anyway just wanted to say thanks for the ideas and continued support. I'm interested in any stuff that comes accross about hormones and vaginismus and anything to do with burning during urination. Thanks. shannon
