Guest guest
So Dr. Metzger prescribed one dose of V-Fend with three (pricey) refills. How should I time their administration? Should I take the first dose the first day of the antibiotics, or should I wait till I'm partway through or finished with the course? (Dr. M's office is closed today, so I can't ask her). Thanks for any advice! Glomer
Guest guest
Hey Glomer,I wish I had an answer for you, I've never used V-Fend before. Have you tried calling a pharmacist and asking them? It's a bummer when you can't reach a doc over the weekend. Hang in there,Chelle
Guest guest
Hi Chelle, Thanks for your kind reply. I asked a pharmacist and she said many doctors think antifungals are only useful *after* a course of antibiotics, but that they can also be prescribed preventatively for patients who are " especially prone " (like me). I'm going to email Dr. M and ask her opinion. The staph on top of everything else feels like a cruel joke, but I am hanging in there! Guest guest
Glomer, At this point, if I were you, I would really consider homeopathic treatment with a classic homeopath. All you're doing with antibiotics is suppressing symptoms and driving them further inside - and with your yeast issues, it's obvious something more is going on. Guest guest
Thanks, Melinda. I followed up with another physician today and she suspects poison oak, not staph. She took a culture and won't prescribe antibiotics until we know for sure what's going on. But yes, in general, I would always take the holistic route, and I'm investigating homeopathy as a possible mode of treatment--it's just that this ulcer on my leg looks so ominous, and I know staph is something one shouldn't fool around with. Thanks again for your reply, Glomer > > Glomer, > At this point, if I were you, I would really consider homeopathic > treatment with a classic homeopath.
