Guest guest
I drink prune juice for the same reason – but it is the only thing that helps the constipation, so I would hate to give that up. nne From: VulvarDisorders [mailto:VulvarDisorders ] On Behalf Of Marcia Gallas Sent: Tuesday, July 15, 2008 2:33 PM To: VulvarDisorders Subject: Marcia/ Re: :Low Oxalate Diet...is it worth it? > > Thank you very much for the diet suggestions. Thanks for sharing . > > > > nne Hi nne: I hated giving up chocolate. But you'd be surprised (maybe not!) what you'd be willing to give up to have less V Pain!! I was really surprised about the chocolate as well as the cinnamon but really noticed a difference when I stopped eating them. My " dream " is to some day get this SO under control that I will eventually be able to go back to some of my favorite foods again. I know it won't be any time soon. I refuse to believe it is forever! I'd really be interested in knowing how you do. One other thing I thought of. I had been eating prunes to help combat medication- related constipation. Discovered that prunes really set me off as well as did raisins. Golden raisins are ok though. Regards, Marcia
Guest guest
I tried the low oxalate diet and it didn't work. However...I have been much better. I wake up feeling great but over the course of the day I start to have irritation that ranges from a low of a 1-2 to as high as 5 or 6 if hubby and I have had a lot of intimacy due to trying to have a baby. The other day I forgot my morning cup of coffee on the counter and lo and behold-hardly any burning later in the day. I have been without coffee since last Friday. I have had almost zero pain. I will keep you all updated. I know there are acids in coffee that might irritate the vulvar tissue. It's not the low oxalate diet per se, but possibly an irritant. I love coffee but I love even more the idea of being pain free. Lindsey
Guest guest
Lindsey,For me, caffeine/coffee acids and alcohol are absolute no-no's. If i ingest them (haven't for decades -- at least not intentionally), my bladder goes crazy, so i'm not surprised by your improvement. I was a coffee-lover, too, but it's a no-brainer when it comes to making a choice. Hope things contine to improve and that you have a conception soon.HollisI tried the low oxalate diet and it didn't work. However...I have been much better. Guest guest
Just thought I'd throw it out there that some docs who are skeptical of the low oxalate approach think the diet can be help as so many common allergens/irritants are high in oxalates--tomatoes, chocolate, coffee, soy, etc. Going on an anti-allergy diet often means the exclusion of these foods (among others)...one reaps the benefits regardless of what's causing the trouble! Glomer P.S. I picked up my supplemental Vitamin D3 yesterday (2500 IU). Fingers crossed! > > I tried the low oxalate diet and it didn't work. However...I have been > much better.
