Guest guest
Is the biotin new? If so, try adding some magnesium. Guest guest
I think it is clostridia overgrowth. I'm dealing with it currently and pretty sure tnat your son's symptoms indicate that. Increased skin sensitivity is a sign of anaerobic bacterial overgrowth. The fact that he used antibiotic recently also makes it more likely. Go up on probiotic rightaway. In my son's case culturelle helped but he needs to take at least three. Finally what has helped so far is oral vancomycin. Are u folloeing with a dan doctor? If so, get him to either check an Oat test or u could ask for eithet vancomycin, flagyl or alinia. If parasite is an issue also, than alinia wod be a better choice but is currently not available anywhere in US. Good luck. is Ry > > Hi everyone, > > My son is acting really weird these days. Guest guest
is,Isn't amoxicylin supposed to be effective against clostria? I never thought it would be clostridia even though symptoms look like it. No DAN doctors here in Turkey. I have to do it myself. I will continue using high dose probiotics and will be watching him. Guest guest
High clostridia markers and emotional regulation -- sounds familiar here... But the odd thing -- we had high clostridia for a while but the weird thing was that while we did, what allowed better emotional regulation was 5-HTP. I have no doubt that the clostridia did make those emotional regulation problems worse, but I'm not sure why 5-HTP put a stop to it...unless something about a clostridia flare affects serotonin? Are you doing any 5-HTP now? Not saying it'll be the sure-fire thing to help your son, but it helped Maia a lot. I increase her 5-HTP now when I see her emotional regulation deteriorating a bit. It's not that she's not reacting emotionally inappropriately, but just that her levels of all emotions just go through the roof. If a situation would make a NT feel slightly sad, then she'll feel the worst depression; if the situation would make a NT person feel slightly peeved about something, then she'd get super angry at the same situation. The 5-HTP was pretty good for her to bring that down a notch. I don't doubt that bacterial flares are involved...I guess I'm just pondering about the mechanics about how they affect serotonin levels maybe (I think for us, it's serotonin). > Yes, antibiotic is done. Guest guest
Thank you Alberta. Tell me about the emotions. I have a NT daugter who gives me really hard times and it is really tough raising her. But my autistic son, he is ,should say was, so easy going. He was never aggressive, never demanding. But now, just complete opposite. His sleep also messed up. I take him to bed at 9.30 and sleeps about 12 or later. Comes to my bed after couple of hours. I am so tired, I think I need my morning coffee, too. I do 5-htp from time to time. It is Nature's way brand and 50 mg. I have not been giving this for a while. I think it is time to start again. Guest guest
Ayse, Amoxicillin has no activity against anaerobes like clostridia. The good ones are metronidazole(flagyl) and vancomycin and even alinia. Even short courses of amoxicillin are enough to wipe out good flora which is an ideal environment for clostridia to go nuts. If you are also treating yeast, it would give clostridia a lot of free room to grow. We are currently dealing with similar symptoms of lack of patience, resistance to change, aggression, sensitivity to light touch esp. with water. My son is doing a little bit better after two weeks of vancomycin. He is on a 1 week break and then I will do another two weeks. Make sure you treat yeast and clostridia together otherwise the one that is not being treated would flare up. Good luck. is > > > > > > Hi everyone, > > > > > > My son is acting really weird these days. He used to LOVE taking a bath > > and > > > today he can not tolerate sponge touching his skin. Guest guest
My son has COMT mutation so he cannot really tolerate methyl groups well. That is the reason I can not give him much carnitine. Just sprinkles. Also due to CBS status, not allowed to supplement with taurine. I do not think he would respond to melatonin because it is also a methyl donor. I am glad that you have found what works for your kid. Take care Ayse Are you doing any carnitine? Guest guest
is,Thank you for the info. If I cannot solve the problem with probiotics, I will probably do some flagyl. I do not want to do that because it also makes his stools worse. Ayse Ayse, Amoxicillin has no activity against anaerobes like clostridia. Guest guest
Well if it was a silver filling, it had amalgam (mercury) and it could be from detox. My daughter started getting more sound sensitive recently, I forget whether I attributed it to CBS or COMT... I gave her more taurine and less P5P and regular B6 and a slow release B6 instead. And more magnesium. She CAN handle more biotin but then I have to add more magnesium (in amts not anticipated... like I give her one extra biotin and then I need to give her a ton more mag) Yes, biotin is new. Started about 2 weeks ago. Have been supplementing with magnesium (citrate, glycinate, malate). He can never be constipated, always has loose stools. I am not sure about the filling, might be amalgam. Guest guest
His filling was white in color. I do not know what it was made of. I did not know about the relationship between mg and biotin. So, should you take them together? thank you..Ayse Well if it was a silver filling, it had amalgam (mercury) and it could be from detox. My daughter started getting more sound sensitive recently, I forget whether I attributed it to CBS or COMT...
