Sleepiness and my update......

Hi everyone,......sorry I haven't been posting much lately. I don't know whats going on with me, if I've been in a flare or what? But for over 6 mo's + I have been having bouts of sleepiness everyday. It starts around 1 pm, and I just can't keep my eyes open and would fall asleep at my desk. Maybe for an hr, and then I'd be fine until my before dinner nap, and I'd sleep for another hour, get up feeling rested, and watch TV until around 1 am, and then off to bed for the night. I'd sleep good until 6 am, get up to take my meds, go back to bed until 10 am, then stay up for the rest of the day. Never had mid day naps before, and am not sure why I am having them now. I can't stay in bed more than 5 hrs at a time, and I can only sleep on my back. I use a CPAP machine, and hubby says he doesn't hear me snoring or gasping for air, so I don't

think its my apnea. The only thing I can think of is there's been another change with the MS, and sleepiness is but another symptom that has grabbed hold of me. Or the broken up sleep isn't good enough to give me a normal sleep cycle, and I'm sleep deprived. Or the pain is waking me up during the night unawares and so I'm not getting quality sleep. Or turning 60 I have entered another decade of my life that includes frequent naps? My blood sugars are in good control.

I know I've suffered from some depression too, and lots of stress, so maybe my body is reacting to all of that? My spasticity has increased which adds to the pain, so those levels are up. I'm still taking the same doses of meds as I always have, but maybe my body is reacting to them in a sedating way more so than before.

Lots of maybe's, but this message is mainly to check in and tell all of you that I have read all the e-mails, but haven't the energy to respond to them.

Reb your cinnamon rolls sound delish, they are one of my favorites. Wish I knew how to make them for diabetics. What is your recipe?

Akiba, sorry your roomie doesn't seem to be working out so well. Hopefully she'll kick down some money to help you soon.

Sharon, tornadoes in AZ is unheard of. Makes you wonder why? Someone tampering with the weather? I always think of stuff like that when the unusual happens. Glad you weren't affected by it. I have some friends that just moved to the Phoenix area [Gilbert] to start a new church, but I didn't hear whether they ran into bad weather. Assume they are okay.

nne, hope Chuck is doing okay now and his BP is better. Prayers as usual. :-)

n, have FUN with your new power chair, I have had to practise a lot to know how to steer mine straight. Steve has to maneuver me thru doorways. Mine is an extra large chair and most doorways aren't wide enough but an inch on each side and that makes it tricky when you can't judge the distance for yourself. Depth perception......but I love mine in open spaces!

Debbi, thanks for all the recipes. Many of them sound really yummy. I like the slow cooker ones, and soup, and diabetic suggestions.

WELCOME to all the newbies, I don't take any of the MS drugs so I can't help those who are asking questions about them. I hope they are working for you eventually.

Donna, hope things are better with you now, your situations parallel with mine, and I sure can relate. Anytime you want to chat off group please e-mail me. rubyjax7@...

I'm sorry if I can't remember everyone elses messages, but hopefully you are doing okay.

I'll post when I can, but it might take me a few days maybe even weeks before I have the energy to respond. Hopefully not weeks. :-)

Hugs and Love, Jackie

Jackie...The sleepiness is a tough one to deal with. I used to have a really hard time with the sleepiness (and still do occasionally). I had to quit drinking coffee several years ago due to stomach pain. The sleepiness/fatigue actually improved after I quit the coffee. I went to drinking hot tea and then after a year quit the tea because it was contributing to my dry mouth. For awhile I drank a coke a day to get the caffeine but after I quit that my fatigue improved even more. I don't know why but I am

sharing my experiences with you in case it might also work the same for you. I must admit that with each thing I quit it took several weeks before I felt the improvement. I hope something works for you!The tornadoes were weird, for sure. Not something that happens here in AZ. These tornadoes hit an area that is 7000 feet elevation and that is odd for tornadoes too. Your friends in Gilbert probably experienced the bad wind, rain and hail the Phoenix area got. Are your friends from your area?love youSharonThis email is a natural hand made product. Hi Kate,......thanks for your post! :-) I will probably always have the spasticity. Its been getting stronger now, and my meds aren't controlling it as well anymore. I don't want to up the dose as they make me even more sleepy, so I just have to try and move slower, and more often to ward off the strong contractions. Hard to remember sometimes.

As far as the MS meds. my neuro didn't think I was a candidate for any of them as my MS is more progressive and slowly, then the R/R. I really didn't want any either because its been a slow progression, and up until the last few years it didn't hold me back from doing what I wanted to. Now I don't think they would help. Don't need any more side effects than I already have with my other meds either. :-)

Hugs and Love, Jackie
