Guest guest
I just used the recipe for Swedish cinnamon rolls from our most trusted cookbook, and it's pretty identical to this one I found when googling for an English translation for it:http://scandinavianfood.about.com/od/coffeecakessweetbreads/r/cinnamonrolls.htmDifferences are that I didn't melt the butter for the filling (I don't know if the recipe I used said you should, but my mother never did, so I didn't, I think I went by childhood memories more than by the recipe when I got to the filling part, because that's the part mom used to let us help with, and the help included eating some of the dough and filling of course....), and another difference is that I used fresh yeast (I think it's more common to use fresh yeast than dry one, in Sweden, or at least that's my experience). Oh, and then I forgot about the egg, and about the cardamom...but both were actually parts of the recipe I did use... However, to my defence, the rolls did come out very good despite that...And a little bonus language lesson: Swedish cinnamon rolls in Swedish is: kanelbullar (literally: kanel=cinnamon + bullar=buns)love/Reb>> Hi everyone,......sorry I haven't been posting much lately. I don't know whats going on with me, if I've been in a flare or what? But for over 6 mo's + I have been having bouts of sleepiness everyday. It starts around 1 pm, and I just can't keep my eyes open and would fall asleep at my desk. Maybe for an hr, and then I'd be fine until my before dinner nap, and I'd sleep for another hour, get up feeling rested, and watch TV until around 1 am, and then off to bed for the night. I'd sleep good until 6 am, get up to take my meds, go back to bed until 10 am, then stay up for the rest of the day. Never had mid day naps before, and am not sure why I am having them now. I can't stay in bed more than 5 hrs at a time, and I can only sleep on my back. I use a CPAP machine, and hubby says he doesn't hear me snoring or gasping for air, so I don't think its my apnea. The only thing I can think of is there's been another change with the MS, and sleepiness is but> another symptom that has grabbed hold of me. Or the broken up sleep isn't good enough to give me a normal sleep cycle, and I'm sleep deprived. Or the pain is waking me up during the night unawares and so I'm not getting quality sleep. Or turning 60 I have entered another decade of my life that includes frequent naps? My blood sugars are in good control. > I know I've suffered from some depression too, and lots of stress, so maybe my body is reacting to all of that? My spasticity has increased which adds to the pain, so those levels are up. I'm still taking the same doses of meds as I always have, but maybe my body is reacting to them in a sedating way more so than before. > Lots of maybe's, but this message is mainly to check in and tell all of you that I have read all the e-mails, but haven't the energy to respond to them. > Reb your cinnamon rolls sound delish, they are one of my favorites. Wish I knew how to make them for diabetics. What is your recipe?> > Akiba, sorry your roomie doesn't seem to be working out so well. Hopefully she'll kick down some money to help you soon. > > Sharon, tornadoes in AZ is unheard of. Makes you wonder why? Someone tampering with the weather? I always think of stuff like that when the unusual happens. Glad you weren't affected by it. Guest guest
reminds me about something I heard years ago a lady bought a really good size pot roast - she whacked a chunk of it off and put it in the oven to cook with the veggies her soon to be daughter in law watched her do this and saw the pan was large enough for a whole roast and all the veggies for 6 - 8 people DIL delicately asked why did you do this Mom looked at her confused and thought about it - my mom did it and my grandma did it - family thing I guess Mom picked up the phone and called her mom - why did grandma whack the end off the pot roast? after her mom quite laughing she said Grandma had a small pot and 6 kids - so she cut the meat to fit the pot God, grant me the strength of eagles wings, the faith and courage to fly to new heights, and the wisdom to rely on his spirit to carry me there.
