Guest guest
Hi,To the folks who are experienced in Test results. We had our Pterines results back. My 7 yo son's urinary Neopterine is high (495, RefRange 130-320, Philippe Auguste lab in Paris). Our doctor said this means he has virus issues. We were on the phone, and for several reasons I couldn't dig into this much further. Can Valtrex be helpful here, or is it sufficient to increase overall immunity (and adding BH4?)? Thanks,Noura
Guest guest
I'm not that familiar with the French test but it does seem that it isn't very specific about what viruses so you would need to test viruses. Valtrex is only going to be helpful if you have a herpes virus. That's also not saying that you don't have a herpes virus and many times testing is wrong. I would suggest getting the test (you want HHV1-6) but starting a trial that same day (adding in a systemic antiviral a month later) after you've pulled the blood if you can do both at the same time with your doc. You'll also want to do a full viral panel and see what other possible viruses could be around (you can find a list of what to test on my blog). I don't believe there is yet a reliable test for xmrv but I think Marcia Hinds would know better on that. ~ Antiviral Therapy 101~ gryffinstail.wordpress.com ~~ @Gryffins_Tail ~ Hi,To the folks who are experienced in Test results.
