Guest guest
Has anyone had any experience with the juvenile justice department with our kids? My son had an incident two days before the end of the school year. According to the police report, he was playing with puzzles and his teacher (of 2 years) did not want him to mix up the pieces so she took away one of the puzzles. He went after her and grabbed her wrists and pulled her hair. She is pressing charges against him. We've been dealing with this issue all summer. He was suspended for ten days (which will now carry over into the first 8 days of the upcoming school year) and they tried to expel him. He was sent to a center school for the summer and probably will be there for the fall. Despite my continuous efforts in contacting the State Attorney's Office and the Broward County Public Defender's Office to get information, I was told that it could take up to 60 days before I would hear from anyone. Well today I got a call that I need to take him to the juvenile justice department to meet with an officer so she can provide information to the judge. They said that they had sent a letter for an appointment today. Obviously, we never received the letter and therefore missed our appointment. (There was no apartment number listed in the address so we never got it.)The officer said they are only trying to gather information to give to the judge. She is not interested in details of the case, but rather just to see how my son acts at home and school. I have to call back to set up another appointment. I was wondering if anyone has had to go through this and what to expect. If you would rather send me a private message instead of posting here, please email me at tova1125@....Thanks.Rosemarie
