Hi Barb,

You must be frantic.

I really don't know what I am talking about but I read the following about

" Squamus Hyperplasia " :

" It is related to chronic irritation. Squamous cell hyperplasia is not a

distinct entity, it is only a description of a morphologic alteration of vulvar

skin. "

That seems to me to mean that what you have is the result of chronic irritation

and not a specific disease or condition which also means to me that maybe you

can find the cause of it.

What makes you think it isn't yeast? (tests? culture? doc said it wasn't??). I

wonder if you mixed some apply cider vinegar with water on a wash cloth an useng

it on the redness of the thigh area as an experiment to see if it helps is a

good idea. It it stops any itching or the redness goes away you will have a clue

that it is yeast. I don't think you should use this on the vulvar skin at this

point though. In fact using anything on the vulvar skin doesn't sound good to

me--especially steroid creams that haven't made it any better.

Make sure that you don't have any elastic like in your panties around the legs

next to this part of your body and wearing no underwear at all might be a good

idea.

I wonder about antihistamines but since you are pregnant that may not be such a

great idea. Ask the doc. Maybe find a different doc.

It might be a good time to really clean up your diet and specifically not eating

any of the major allergen foods which are--dairy, grains of any kind, eggs, soy,

baker's or brewer's yeast, monosodium glutamate (a nasty flavoring put in

Chinese foods, restaurant food, and processed foods, and see if it has any

effect.

Something causes this. Look into finding out what and although finding another

doc might help you in some ways, I think your being a detective about what is

causing this massive irritation wculd be pretty valuable. I think allergists for

food sensitivies are completely hopeless. (my opinion).

Just saying.

Hi, Some yrs ago within past 5yrs?

I had what gyn said was Lichen Schlerosis, I had Clobetesol then Temovate. I used it for several years and was told by gyn or dermatoligist I should not have been using it that long.Somewhere along the line I ended up at dermatlogist. Oh it might have went away then got worse.

Anyway I went to my PA and she gave me steroids to orally take. The cream was not helping. It got worse and worse and spread to my thighs, they were red. I was so miserable. I started wearing jogging pants no jeans. I was a jean wearer. The dermatoligists said I did not have LS. Two different ones at same office. (females)

took me off everything. I got better. They never did say what I had or the problem.

Now about 1 1/1 months ago I asked PA for something for acne. Started taking Doyxicline (sp)(antibotic). Guess what at the top of my vulva it is constant itching. I have taken Anhistimes

which help I think. I have used Benadryl cream. It used to be just a little itching before my cycle.

Now since I had to ask for something for acne I have been trying to clear it up. If I could turn back the clock. so I joined this board to find some info. I am going to have to see a derm and see if they can give me something.

I know my order of facts. are not clear but my whole life I have always been way to busy with large family and working.I just wanted to say about that maybe that is what I had steroid rebound because I have heard that too. You should not just go cold turkey.

Just my 2 cents.

I am open to suggestions. I have been reading the recent posts.

I am 34 years old. I was diagnosed with Squamous Hyperplasia about 1 year ago. My initial outbreak did subside with Clobetesol. About 6 months later I had another outbreak. My OBGYN put me back on Clobetesol. I then became pregnant. He switched me to Triamcinolone Acetonide 0.5% cream. I am now 5 months pregnant, so I have been on these creams now for at least 6 months. At my last visit, I told him that my condition is worsening. I asked him if I could be having rebound effects. He told me that I needed to go back on the Clobetesol, which I did not do. I don't like all of this medication, especially during a pregnancy.I have no fissures at this time, however I am RED, RED, RED. I am sore and in only one area get itchy. It seems I can subside the itch with a shower and Aveeno soap. Also, the redness has spread clear out onto my thighs.I think I am having rebound effects, but I am not sure exactly what "rebound effects" are. I have stopped the cream now for about three nights. My condition is the same, not worse. Should I see a Dermatologist? Help, please!!!!!Thank you in advance!Barb Keep your kids safer online with Windows Live Family Safety. Help protect your kids.

Barb, Your symptoms might be what I had @ one and a half yrs.

ago. It was candidas or 'diaper rash' as the dermatologist

told me. He treated me the same as he would a 2 month old

baby, except I was a 60 yr old baby. lol I was red, red, red and it

was spreading down my thighs too. My first dermo told me it was

psoriasis

and put me on clob. Well, honey, that made the condition much worse

and when it wasn't improving she wanted to put me on Enbrel, which is a

heavy duty drug for psoriasis. I am not dermo, but if yu are

pregnant, I wouldn't think it could hurt to visit w/ a GOOD dermo. It

took me

2 before I found the one who actually took scrapes from that area, put

them under a miroscope and didn't guess by just looking at the skin.

Good luck, honey.

I've been following this thread with interest since i currently havea very red rash that is also wending its way down my inner thighs. It started in mid-April as two perfectly round circles and since thattime has morphed into migrating, merging spots that have nowturned into a fairly large mass. Not itchy at all.Did your candida rash migrate in this kind of fashion? Was ititchy at all -- or just red?HollisBarb, Your symptoms might be what I had @ one and a half yrs. ago. Hi Barb,Sorry you are having such a hard time while pregnant. I took an antihistamine during the 2nd and 3rd trimesters with my last pregnancy. It was the generic of Vistaril (Hydroxyzine). I hope you find relief soon! ~Chelle
