Guest guest
Dear , I am teaching undergraduate neuroscience this year. I often think of you and Mark, and of your generous decision to donate his body for medical education after he died earlier this year from cholangiocarcinoma. In order to demonstrate the comparative anatomy of the brain, we have a human brain in the lab here to show the students. Many of them plan careers in medicine and science. I prepare them to view it by telling them that the person who offered this brain chose, before his or her death, to offer their body for the education of young scientists. Through this gift, that person's generous spirit survives. Thinking about the donor's decision to give this gift to them seems to help them get over their squeamishness, and to subdue any irreverent impulses that might arise from nervousness. I know that the medical students are grateful for the gift that you and Mark made to their education. Best wishes, Martha (MA) UC1979, PSC 1992
