Guest guest
Jen, I am in Mass. and am familiar with NH and ME - don't know of anyone. You might be better off finding a good gyn. whose willing to be educated and work with you based on information you find on this group or research studies. I have also had a ton of success with my PT here in Northern Mass. and she has people that come from NH and ME to see her - not sure if you need PT but if you do... Guest guest
Jen,His name is Mark Conway. Here is his contact info:30 Webster Hwy # 11Merrimack, NH 03054He is an ob/gyn, but he mainly works with Pudendal Neuropathy patients. He does decompression surgery and vestibulectomies. I'm not sure how many conservative treatments he does. He is very nice, but honestly, I wonder if you'd be better off finding someone else, or asking him if he knows of someone. I flew up there last Nov. and had a consult with him/EMG testing on the Pudendal Nerve. Take Care,Chelle
Guest guest
Thanks, Chelle I planned on getting back on to say to be careful of him perhaps suggesting surgery. However, in your opinion, is he a good doc to see? Or do you think it's an automatic pudendal neuropathy diagnosis? Which I am a bit biased about as I think so many of us have that and are not properly diagnosed. What I do have a problem with is that it can be a pretty scary diagnosis unless one is informed that with proper care, it can get much better or healed unless it's true entrapment and then things get much more complicated. But don't you think he'd have access to excellent PTs because of his connection with Prendergast? And do you think he would be a better start than your run of the mill ob/gyn? I know how much better off I would have been if I had seen Dr. Weiss right off the bat and getting good PT and a proper diagnosis immediately, even though it was pretty darned scary to get that diagnosis of PN. love, Molly Subject: Re: Vulva specialist in New HampshireTo: VulvarDisorders Date: Thursday, July 24, 2008, 7:34 PM Jen,His name is Mark Conway. Guest guest
Hi Chelle, I have been to several OBGYN in my area and all they want to treat it with is steroid creams and antidepressants or anticonvlants, which might work for some , but I have a eye condition called Meibomian Gland Dysfunction where my eyes produce no oils so they are extremely dry, so I can not take any drugs that will dry my eyes. I have been suffering with this going on 2 years now with very little relief, sitting is the worst for me, so I thought if I can find a doc that would try site injections or something just to get some relief... Thanks Jen Subject: Re: Vulva specialist in New HampshireTo: VulvarDisorders Date: Thursday, July 24, 2008, 9:34 PM Jen,His name is Mark Conway. Guest guest
Hey Jen & Molly,I think Dr. Conway is very nice, but I guess I can only go by the fact that I saw him for consult on the PN. He hasn't treated me for vulvar pain, I simply told him it's one of my symptoms. He does give very thorough exams, vaginally & rectally. He just seems to have his hands full with the PN patients, so I'm not sure what all he does to treat Vulvar Pain conservatively. He does work with Lynne Assad who knows 's techniques, but I would think they give priority to PN patients. Jen, have you ever tried PT or had a good evaluation? If not, that might be the way to go. Especially since you have a hard time with meds, due to your eye condition. Take Care,Chelle
Guest guest
Dr. Lynette Margesson is in NH. She is a vulvar doc and a friend of Dr. 's. I only knew one person who saw her and did not have a great experience, but that is one person. I'm with you on Dr. . I would never recommend her. In Boston, I have heard good stuff about a doc at Mt. Auburn named Marjorie Green. I liked Dr. Lori Boardman in RI a lot, but she tends to have a heavy patient load and I sometimes felt rushed. Still, liked her way more than . Lia > > Hi does anyone know of any good vulva specialist or a pain specialist > in NH or in Maine haha ??? Guest guest
Hi, I've seen Dr. Margusson. She's very business like but also full of knowledge. She did help to ease my fears that yeast was my issue and that this could be beaten. I see Dr. Debra Birenbaum at Dartmouth in Lebanon, NH. She is excellent, has a wonderful manner and really listens to your concerns. I highly recommend her. I'm close to 90% better. Comfortable and almost feeling normal but still easy to flare after sex. Though, I can ride my bike with no pain! Physical therapy was very key for me in getting better.
