Guest guest
Have been combing the PSC literature in regards to nausea and PSC, as Fred has been complaining off and on (now pretty much " on " ) of nausea for about a month. We're trying to get in as quickly as possible to see his doctor- but we don't know WHICH one? The hepatologist or gastroenterolist (the latter treats his UC). He feels pressure in the middle of his abdomen up to the top of his chest. He's able to eat bananas, a little oatmeal, etc., and not vomiting, although says that's a possibility. Says nausea much worse when he lies down. When he walks around it is lessened. We don't THINK it's a cholangitis attack, as he has no fever, nor chills, nor most of the other symptoms, although he is belching. He took 1 mg. Ativan last night and that helped a bit. Anyone identify with this? Advice? He's definitely stressed out about this! Thanks y'all! Wife of Fred, PSC 03/04, UC 03/
Guest guest
I would say got to the gastro doctor. When I have these sympthoms it's usually my colon. On a different note, about 10 years ago right after I have my gall bladder removed, I got pancreas. Some of the symptions are similar. They will do lab work when you go see the doctor and you probably want to have the labs done so ask them to have labs done 4-5 days before your appointment so the doctor has the results when you visit him in person, ask for them to test the pancreas enzymes as well. goodl uck. Guest guest
Thank you Arman, however Fred is not in the mood to wait 4-5 days! He has an appt. today with his hepatologist (who is also a gastro, of course). Fred did some Internet research and found that his UC med Asacol can actually cause peptic ulcers in susceptible people, so perhaps that's it. We're hoping it's non-liver related. As we all know, PSC is such a mystery - sort of like the " Clue " game: " The UC did it in the colon with the Asacol, " or " the PSC did it in the stomach with the backed-up bile, " etc.! > > I would say got to the gastro doctor. Guest guest
I use to take Asacol and have switched to Colazal. It has worked better for me. Shirin, Arman, Niki & Mateenarman_shirin@... Hi , I'm a " pop in reader/poster " and happened to have time to pop in today and see this thread. Could the nausea be a side effect of one or more (combo) of Fred's meds? My son has been dealing with an assortment of side effects as well as symptoms for months now, including nausea off and on, and it has been extremely frustrating. I mark my son's symptoms down and make a monthly chart graph from that so all of my son's drs can see at a glance (single page) the myriad symptoms and severities each month. I would be interested, if you don't mind sharing, to learn what Fred's drs say about his nausea. I rarely get on this board anymore, and will likely miss a post, but if you have the time and remember it when you post, if you could email me at Sns670@... (I rarely read yahoo email). I've been quite frustrated with my son's drs in this area --in fixing his daily issues. Imo, the drs are not so concerned with daily living ('lesser' symptoms/issues -that still effect quality of living) as with lab and test results. Good luck!
