Guest guest
Lately, I have noticed an " aura " (Just like what people get in migraines) before a vulva flare. I first get some cramps or aching in the pubic area and then the next day I will see some redness (not always) and feel the sting or itch. I have been tested by culture for yeast and it was negative. One GYN said it is called an immune response or reaction before the flare stars-- (whatever that means). I just had a flare like two weeks ago--I used a small amt of Synalar (steroid cream) on the vulva majora and continued my Estrace cream (which I was lax about using) and the symptoms went away. I stopped the steroid. Now, it's back again. Is this the way flares go--here today, gone tomorrow and back again? Sometimes I feel the symptoms and you can't see anything. Like it is nerve irritation. By looking the GYN ruled out LS--he said women who are menopausal will have these flares (sting, itch and irritation) due to lack of estrogen and atrophy. Do you think he is right? I'm new to this problem (just within the last year) and can use all the advice I can get. And does anyone get weird symptoms before the flare shows up? Thanks, Tania
