Guest guest
Ladies, Has anyone had a colposcopy along w/ their DV? I have one scheduled for Tuesday and I am in tears w/ fear that the Acetic acid (vinegar wash) will flare-up my DV, that has been @ 90% better for many months. I feel like I will be back to square one w/ pain and like I said I have been crying and at my nerves end (no pun intended) anticipating the worse. And w/ my luck that's what it will be. Thanks, Joyce
Guest guest
I do not know what that is. If you are better, I do not understand why you would need to have a procedure. best wishes, ml
Guest guest
If the vinegar causes a flare it will probably not last very long since you have been so much better for so long. Tell the doctor not to get the vinegar on your vulva because you want to avoid a flare. They are supposed to apply it with a cotton swab and be sure he does that. For information about a colposcopy go to: http://familydoctor.org/online/famdocen/home/women/reproductive/gynecologic/082.\ printerview.html Knowledge is power. Guest guest
Ora, Thanks for the info. I have been on the computer for 5 days reading and reading and reading. I was asked why I need a colposcopy and the fact is I had an abnormal pap smear w/ the HPV testing positive for strains 16/18. Yep, I know ladies. I screwed up (another pun) really, really bad and now I will pay for it. But it seems my life has always had some major health issue and now this. Thanks again Ora. Guest guest
ora: thank you for this link http://familydoctor.org/online/famdocen/home/women/reproductive/gynecologic/ 082.printerview.html I am pretty sure I had one of those when I first began this " adventure " . And, a biopsy was also perfomed. So the lidocaine helped with the additional " pain " as any " tampering " in the area, of course, caused additional PAIN! OH man, I hate to remember those days. These procedures are necessary tho to insure proper treatment. Which, although, painful to have any touching...I still hate the speculum...and flare for a week after a speculum.....it seems enduring these procedures is necessary to achieve the desired end. Best of luck, Joyce, hang on...I had to go thru to get out....and it was not easy. LOVE, ml my prayers go with you on Tuesday. Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Guest guest
Hey ML, Thank you soooooo much for the encouragement. I need any as I am just ready to jump off the nearest bridge. We women have been thru much pain and I can't imagine starting from square one again. But like you wrote -it is what it is- and the procedure needs to be done. Thank you for the 'saying' at the end of your post:) Joyce

Guest guest
Sweetie...what do you mean you "screwed up?" Are you blaming yourself for the HPV? Lindsey
Guest guest
Lindsey, I guess I should know better at my age, 62. So I guess I am putting the blame one me:( Joyce
Guest guest
Joyce, Please don't do that. As many of 80% of MEN AND WOMEN my age will harbor it at some point. It's just a part of being sexually active. Please don't beat yourself up about it. Just concentrate on your immune system's ability to fight it off. I have also read in " Women's Bodies, Women's Wisdom " that it can lie dormant for decades and only come up in times of stress. So who knows where/when you picked it up. What's important is you nourish your system so you can get well. Peace, Lindsey > > > Lindsey, I guess I should know better at my age, 62. Guest guest
AWHHH for goodness sakes....just cut that out, Joyce..... Dont go beating up on my friend....Look at yourself in the mirror and say " I LOVE MYSELF just the way I am... " Dont let the " bastions " who truly are the ones who go around looking for nice people to mess up get you down. WE all here love you and are not here to judge anyone. So YOU cannot do it EITHER. love, ML
Guest guest
ML, I have a history of 'very' bad outcomes w/ men that I have had an intimate relationship w/. I am thinking that I now will never have that. I am resolved to just getting on w/ my life whatever turns out. I just pray my DV does not flare up to the point that I am looking for the nearest bridge. I will let you know how I make out, but I am sure the path tests won't be back for a few weeks.
