I'm so frustrated! I'm sorry to keep posting about me me me but I'm

just...... Well I don't know.

In addition to the fever a week ago, the more intense pain the last

3-4 days, I'm now itching more than EVER before. No hives or rashes

or anything. I have lots of bruises on my legs but that's about

it.

Yesterday they did some blood work and started me on cipro in case I

have a mild case of cholangitis. All my specialists are gone (how

convinient) so my primary doc is doing her best (she's great!). She

gave me lortab for the pain and if I take two of them it helps. But

that's a lot! (I think)

I just don't know what to do. If I'm itching a lot more is that bad

too? No jaundice or anything yet either.

I think I said this already but my labs were normal except for the

following:

Hemaglobin Low

Hematocrit Low

MCV Low

MCH Low

RDW High

ALKP High

BUN/CR High

And does PSC affect kidneys? I'm just lost. I wish Dr Sorrell was

around, lol. It scares me, you know

I appreciate any insight. I'm not sure what to do. I'm still

taking the cipro and my urso as usual but the itching is NUTS.

Thanks for listening to me whine, lol.

I hear you - I itch incessantly! For 3 full

years now. I take Questran, Urso, Hydroxyzine,

Benadry, Naltrexone, Ambien CR, Zoloft and

Zofran....all supposed to help with itching and with

all that, it still doesn't stop the itching. Have you

tried light treatments to breakdown the bile salts

built up under your skin's surface which is probably

the irritant causing the itching.?

I have found a lotion (expensive) Diabease Skin

Calming Lotion. It does help desensitize my skin

after my baths.

Some have posted here that high dosages of URSO were causing them itching, so they worked up to their high dosages. Try halfing your dosage for this weekend and see if it reduces your itching.

PS. I'm taking about 5mg/kg/day at the moment.

I had increased itching with starting the URSO and figured out that I needed to cut back and work up to the high dose. I would try that and take it slow. And I have had problems with my kidneys (pain) often when I am having a cholangitis attack. I hope things improve quickly for you.
