Guest guest
It took 65 different doctor appointments, hospital test and evaluations to diagnose my son. That was 11 years ago and hopefully doctors & school faculty are more in tuned to our kids and the 'red flags'. If it weren't for a very observant & persistent pre-school teacher who told me to have him re-tested when ChildFind said he was fine, and listened to my gut and started over with testing 6 months later, who knows how long it would have taken. Guest guest
It's only a little better today. See this clip from the 2008 autism insurance bill debate as parent after parent tells the same story of " don't worry " or " wait and see " they heard from their Dr. There have been several attempts to pass a State Bill that would require Dr's to make the appropriate referrals and for the insurance companies to pay for them, but they have always been beat back by the insurance lobby.
