Guest guest
Hi Everyone-- I'm really not sure what to do at the moment....I was recently treated for BV, got better for a few days, and now my symptoms are back. After the antibiotics (7 days of flagyl), I used boric acid and ketoconazole to fend off any yeast since I am really prone to it. The symptoms are pretty bad right now and I'm having a hard time functioning. The nurse I saw at school is not there on the weekends and my doc's office isn't open either. Even so, since I've been on the anti-yeast meds I don't even know if there would be a point in getting tested, unless the BV is still there and they could see that. Also, neither of them do thorough, proper testing. I am in the process of finding a provider who I can rely on for that. What do I do, tough it out for a few days and go see someone next week? Or try to see someone in the meantime, even though I've been on the antifungals. I just don't know if maybe the BV is still there. I CAN'T believe this is happening. I really was putting my pelvic pain behind me and was just starting to have pain free days. Any advice much appreciated.
Guest guest
, I think you need two plans, a long-term plan and a short-term plan. First of all, are you still seeing Deniz Zolnoun at the UNC Pelvic Pain clinic? I think you said that you are under her care but she is not testing and treating your infections. Short term plan: Call the UNC Pelvic Pain clinic and try to get an appointment with *anyone*, just as soon as possible. Say that it is an emergency. Try to get some strong pain pills such as VICODIN out of them. If they refuse to help you, ask them to refer you to a Pain Control specialist. You get in much faster if you are referred. A Pain Control Specialist is Pasi in Raleigh, . (There is probably one closer than Raleigh but I don't have name & phone number) There is no sense in " toughing it out " in my opinion. Long term plan: When you see Michele , ask her if she can refer you to Libby in Charlotte. Libby is a world class VV expert, and she is really good with infections. I mean, Michele may be able to treat your infections but Libby specializes in this. You may have nerve pain, which is making the discomfort from the bacteria/yeast feel much worse than it should. So you might want to try nerve pills just to see if it helps. Michele will help you with that. Neurontin, Elavil, Lyrica, Nortriptyline, etc. Very Short Term Plan for tonight: Lay on the couch and get your husband or boyfriend to rub your feet. I'm thinking about you. This group is here to support you. > > Hi Everyone-- > > I'm really not sure what to do at the moment....I was recently treated > for BV, got better for a few days, and now my symptoms are back. Guest guest
Hi -- Thank you for this wonderful message. This is great advice. I did call Dr. Zolnoun on Friday and spoke with her nurse and told them what was going on and that I was extremely anxious and couldn't sleep. She had told me to add cymbalta and propranalol to my elavil at my last appointment, when i was first having the BV symptoms and she wouldn't test me. I hadn't started the cymbalta yet because I was doing so well before this infection and wasn't sure I wanted to be on more drugs. The propranolol just didn't seem like a good idea. Anyway, so the nurse told me that they would not give me anything else until I tried these. But the thing is cybalta takes a while, and I did take some propranalol last night and today and feel nothing from it. I guess I will do what you said, call them on monday, and if they are not willing to give me anything else ask for referral to pain management. I think you are right about me feeling the infections symptoms much more intensely. I do have some level of nerve pain, although my nerve pain is most a result of muscle contracture.....but I can guarantee that my muscles are contracting right now!!! I am glad you reminded me of Libby as I forgot she was here. And I was doing so well before that I had no need to seek out additional assistance. I am just praying that I can get past this and back to my near pain-free happy state. Thanks again, you're the best > > > > Hi Everyone-- > > > > I'm really not sure what to do at the moment....I was recently treated > > for BV, got better for a few days, and now my symptoms are back. Guest guest
,Do you feel raw and irritated? If so, try using an antihistamine. Dee used to remind us that when you have an infection (like yeast) that the inflammation and irritation could remain --where it caused the nerves to overfire - and that the antihistamine could calm things down. I'm not sure if the same is true with BV...but I think it probably could. Do you have anything you regularly fall back on when in a flare-up? Ice packs? You can freeze water in a condom an insert it or lay it on your skin...I'll re-send the Relief list...you never know when there might be something that can help.Keep telling yourself things will calm down.Big Hugs, ChellePS - I'll be emailing you with the info on Libby, soon. I'm trying to catch up! ;-)
Guest guest
Thank you Chelle! I bought some Benadryl yesterday and am going to give it a shot. For me symptoms for BV and yeast are the same, so I would imagine it could work for either? Thanks again. You rock. > > , > > Do you feel raw and irritated? If so, try using an antihistamine. Guest guest
Chelle, This is D. Thank you so much for your email regarding Dr. Libby . You are the best! I hope you don't get tired of my many questions because I know I always have so many. I have another question about the antihistamines. What brand do you use or recommend? Pills to take orally or gels to apply topically? Thanks again, Chelle. You're amazing. D. > > , > > Do you feel raw and irritated? If so, try using an antihistamine.
