Guest guest
, Congratulations!! You did what you set out to do and had fun too. I have a hard time getting myself to the gym! My family is purchasing a mile for the Road to ville fundraiser in your honor. The Belmontsathan wrote: Well, I'm back from the triathlon! While we weren't the most stellar performers there, we had a good time, and met our personal goals. My brother swam the first leg (1/2 mile swim) (and went on to finish the rest of it himself too), I biked (18 miles), and my sister finished up with the running (4 miles). So it wasn't too strenuous...I finished the bike leg in just over an hour (1:05). I set my mark to shoot for at 1 hour, knowing I probably wouldn't get it, but trying, so I was pretty satisfied with what I got. I was a bit chagrined to be passed by a 10 year old girl about 1/3 of the way into the ride (although at the same time admiring how well she was doing!). I managed to pass her after a while, but then she passed me again. We went back and forth like that for a while, but I finally managed to pass her for good a couple miles from the finish. When I looked at the times though, hers was actually about a minute faster than mine! She'd finished the swim behind my brother (who did our swim leg) so she started the bike leg later than I did.Anyway, it was a lot of fun, and I'm hoping to do the whole thing myself next year, and get some real fundraising going then.I'll post a few photos in my album on the group site. Guest guest
- Congratulations! And to Reggie - Thank you for the wonderful idea. We will also purchase/honor and his family with a mile for the Road to ville fundraiser. - the effort that you and your siblings made is multiplied by every person who learned of PSC while you did this, plus you made the little girl's day by racing directly with her, AND you now have 2 MILEs to ville in your name!!!!! For all newcomers to the group - that is additional funding for PSC research. On the same day, I received a cowbell for finishing the Sacramento Cowtown 1/2 marathon. There were many 60 and 70 year olds who passed me by (and by way more than a minute). I really wanted the cowbell. But Reggie's Road to ville gift is a far greater honor of a gigantic achievement. Again, congratulations! Hope you are not sore. Take care.
