Guest guest
I had BV for nine months! I went off the of birth control pill, changed my diet and the final antibotic they gave me was Z-pack. I also took acidophillus. Guest guest
I have read that sugar can promote BV growth. Coffee is also not good. I have also read that if you are gluten or dairy intolerant your body can be so busy fighting those foods that it makes it more prone to infection. Guest guest
Hey guys--well I went back to the doc today and I have BV again...unless it never went away entirely. I felt a lot better for maybe 4 or 5 days after the antibiotics but then symptoms came back. I went back to the nurse today and she saw clue cells. Does anyone have any advice on how to stave it off? I don't want to just keep taking antibiotics. I know how horrible yeast can be and I don't want to go there. I don't understand why it just came right back. I recently started on hydrocortisone to treat adrenal fatigue. My primary care doc who rxed it to me said that it could be suppressing my immune system. I'm just so scared because I really was almost back to my old self after 2 years of 24/7 horrible vulvar pain! Why is there no mercy?! Guest guest
The cortisone could have contributed to you getting BV again. Have you tried taking Femdophilus? It has the type of lactobacillus that is supposed to be specific for vaginal flora? > > Hey guys--well I went back to the doc today and I have BV > again...unless it never went away entirely. Guest guest
Hi Blueeberri--Well yes, both during my vulvodynia. But not since I've had the BV infection. The candida diet helped when I had a chronic yeast infection, which was only chronic because the idiot docs couldn't diagnose it. But later I got vulvodynia which didn't respond to that or GF diet at all. But now I'm just having this BV infection. I don't really know how/why a gluten or sugar free diet would help BV, unless I am missing something? > > Hi , > I don't recall but have you tried the sugar free or gluten dairy free diet? > > Blueeberri > > > > **************Looking for simple solutions to your real-life financial > challenges? Guest guest
Hi : I feel for you. I am treating BV again too. I am using Tindamax. The doctor told me to use boric acid suppositories twice a week as maintenance. I used them before every night for four months last year and still got BV and yeast. Other people have had some success with them. After I treat the infection, I wait two weeks and go back for what my doctor says is "a test of cure", which just means another culture to see if it has gone away. Sometimes it is gone (but comes back) and sometimes it is still there. Guest guest
Hi: What kind of diet did you eat to help with the BV? I'm not on the pill, allergic to Zpack, haven't had any success with acidophillus, but would be interested in the diet. As long as I don't lose weight. I'm a size 0 now. I didn't know Zpack worked on BV....... Sherri -------------- Original message -------------- From: blueeberri@... I had BV for nine months! Guest guest
What ABX did you get? Were you on the Flagyl? I've read that is the best oral treatment and Amoxy was used in the 70's but is not as effective. > > Hey guys--well I went back to the doc today and I have BV > again...unless it never went away entirely. Guest guest
Hi Molly--yes, I was given Flagyl both times. I haven't started the 2nd round yet cause I'm scared of yeast. > > > > Hey guys--well I went back to the doc today and I have BV > > again...unless it never went away entirely. Guest guest
Mine was the opposite problem, low DHEA and testosterone. Unbalanced hormones have a lot to do with infections and this condition for a lot of us. BlueeberriLooking for simple solutions to your real-life financial challenges? Guest guest
One thing that I randomly thought of is are you using topical estrace? I know my infections seemed to get under some control with topical estrace. of couse I also started using daily probiotics, good vitamins, etc., at the same time. But I do recall seeing a link somewhere between healthy vaginal bacteria and having enough estrogen. Lindsey
Guest guest
Thanks for agreeing with me Chelle. I know this from experience. Having BV for nine months really sucked! I have not had it for 7 years. Knock on WOOD! BlueeberriLooking for simple solutions to your real-life financial challenges? Guest guest
>>>>Unbalanced hormones have a lot to do with infections and this condition for a lot of us. is right on about this...when my estrogen level was low, I had a BV infection, the doc that finally diagnosed it said my cells didn't look as estrogenized as they should be for someone my age (in my 30's). Hormones can affect the ph levels.Chelle
Guest guest
,Hormones can definitely play a part in infections. When there is an imbalance - it can upset the Ph. Just a thought...Take Care,Chelle
Guest guest
Hi Sherri-- Just boric acid. The nurse said yesterday that clindamycin was only available as a cream, but now I see that that's not true. I was thinking of calling her on monday and asking for that instead, but that would mean I have to wait until then to start treatment. Not sure what to do! > > > > > > > > Hey guys--well I went back to the doc today and I have BV > > > > again...unless it never went away entirely. Guest guest
Hey Lindsey--Hmmm, i used to use it in the beginning of my vv journey, but eventually stopped because I derived no benefit from it. But I still have some so maybe I'll give it a shot again. > Lindsey >
Guest guest
Thanks Chelle. I started the hydrocortisone because my cortisol level was low, but I think I was on too high of a dose and it suppressed my immune system. Grrr. > > , > > Hormones can definitely play a part in infections. When there is an imbalance - it can upset the Ph. Just a thought... > > Take Care, > Chelle >
Guest guest
You have an infection which needs an antibiotic Using topical estrace is for the hormones which will not clear up the infection. After being on flagal (Generic name) for the 2 weeks 500mg then your doc. should do 1 a day for about 1 month. Mine finally went away for now 1 year. Ya its a bitch to get rid of but you need meds for this. Also take Acidophilus after your done with the antibiotics This will replace good bacteria that you got rid of during the month of antis Tina Kohlman Subject: Re: BV againTo: VulvarDisorders Date: Saturday, September 20, 2008, 4:50 AM One thing that I randomly thought of is are you using topical estrace? Guest guest
Hey Tina-- Are you saying that you took Flagyl 500 2x/day for 2 weeks and then 1x/day for a month? I asked my nurse if I should take it for longer than a week since I felt better by the end of the first week but not 100%. She said that a week was plenty. Perhaps I should ask her for a longer treatment again? I'm curious to hear about more of your experience. > > From: Lindsey > Subject: Re: BV again > To: VulvarDisorders > Date: Saturday, September 20, 2008, 4:50 AM > > > > > > > > > > > > One thing that I randomly thought of is are you using topical estrace? I know my infections seemed to get under some control with topical estrace. of couse I also started using daily probiotics, good vitamins, etc., at the same time. But I do recall seeing a link somewhere between healthy vaginal bacteria and having enough estrogen. > Lindsey >
Guest guest
Tina--also, had you taken shorter courses of Flagyl before the longer one that finally knocked the infection out? > > From: Lindsey > Subject: Re: BV again > To: VulvarDisorders > Date: Saturday, September 20, 2008, 4:50 AM > > > > > > > > > > > > One thing that I randomly thought of is are you using topical estrace? I know my infections seemed to get under some control with topical estrace. of couse I also started using daily probiotics, good vitamins, etc., at the same time. But I do recall seeing a link somewhere between healthy vaginal bacteria and having enough estrogen. > Lindsey >
Guest guest
Clindamycin definately comes in a pill. I used to take it before dental work. Clindesse is the clindamycin cream. I've used it. It works ok. It stays up you for almost a week. I think it's one of the treatments that also kills off the good bacteria so I stopped using it. I'm using Tindamax now for BV (again). It never bothered my stomach before like Flagyl does, but this time it's killing me!!! I'm supposed to use boric acid suppositories twice a week as maintenance, but this time they are making the burning worse. What kind do you use? Guest guest
I'm not Tina, but....................the last specialist I went to used to put me on Flagyl for two weeks for BV.
