we have it too and our kid loves to pla with it. I have no idea how to use it in a function al manner but a speech therapist that uses it in their practice would. Maybe one of them will reach out to this post.

Ipad app Proloquotogo Experiences

I was wondering if any uses this app with their child and you could give me some feedback on teaching my son how to use it?

My son is 10 and verbal but not conversational. I have tried to show him how to use it. I have taught and practiced the typing with him and I have let him just play with it so he could familiarize himself with it. We've always had some trouble getting him to initiate and I was wondering what other people's experiences and suggestions might be?

Thanks for you help.

Hi Diane

I have a lot of experience working with that program (and the iPad in general)

with my own son and with my other students (I'm an SLP).I also teach iPad skills

to other SLPs for continuing education. Did you know that there are tons of apps

out there for AAC that may be a better fit for your son. I know that

Proloquotogo is great, but perhaps there would be a better app for him. Or it

could be the techniques you are using with him on this app. I am familiar with

many other apps that are used for autism for communication, language,

organizational skills, etc. You can email me privately if you want to discuss

this further with me at info@... or the email address that is

connected with this listserv

We know they are very stubborn and want to stick with what interest them.

Perhaps, you can find that interest on the app.
