Guest guest
yup the only gear I was wearing was normal fire fighter gear, I was not wearing SCBA since I am not certified or even trianed to use one. So yeah I agree I shouldn't have been so close and lemme tell ya I've learned more from this experience. I had a great deal of pain for days. I am still hurting from Saturday Vicki/Lady Vader www.freewebs.com/romanticdreamscometrue www.freewebs.com/victoriadutton Re: Fire, training and Fibro Vicky That is the frustrating part of the disease with me. When I feel good enough to go somewhere, but know it is a full day of walking, standing, and, this means I can no longer even do a mall trip anymore or shop more than a store a day. As I also know I will pay, and it is upsetting, because I can be going along fine, then after a few hrs, my lower back starts to hurt, then it keeps getting worse, my legs start to get involve and by the end of the event I am screaming inside I have to go home. Then for few days I am all messed up, but people don't seem to understand the pain we can get in from just a supposedly simple to them day out, parades, shopping, any event where u are up on your legs or just unable to rest within the long day period...... . I am glad u had the proper help around u for inhaling that smoke, can't believe they had u that close and no gear to keep u safe from breathing smoke. First thing Saturday morning Pat and I got up, got dressed and headed over to the fire dept. He first had us go and pick up the tanker from the second dept. Since we were having a big traning day. Things were going well, but suddenly it seemed I was to be the person that was taking pictures, video and watching. Since I am not a fully trained fire fighter I couldn't enter the building for the traning. So of course that wasn't a had thing I enjoyed watching and taking pictures problem is that meant I was no more than a few feet from a burning building all day. We started the training about 10 am and that meant I was inhailing smoke since we started. Toward the end I was complaing that I was having a hard time breathing. So pat took the camera from me and sent me to have a nice sit down with the medics, now that was a total of three different members of the dept that had gone to see the medics that day, but I was the one that was having a issue since I couldn't breathing. They put me on oxgyen and had me sit down for a while, I missed the end of the fire but at least I knew that I had proper care. Yes I know that I wasn't wearing proper gear to be that close to a fire but they wouldn't give me anything. But I knew that I would also pay dearly for going all day on my feet. I have bad legs, knees, back and such. so what is worse I also went to work the next day and today of course. And I have to work tomorrow. if I can make it, I am also sick.
