Guest guest
I never noticed this before. How interesting, I did notice that I have what looks like very tiny and small crescents just barely visible at the base of each nail. except the thumb...I was hoping that this meant I don't have fibro. LOL I guess they will continue to disappear over time. My doctors did just dx me not too long ago, thinking that I got this sometime this last year. maybe they go away slowly so that we don't notice it. cause when I went to high school I had nice long nails. but now they just break and are very brittle. and My hair is thin and brittle too. thanks for the website it was helpful. Guest guest
Excuse me? I can't particularly vouch for the material at the web site. It found it interesting and said so. But to be accurate, I don't tend to believe anything I read. I take it all in as information. Was that comment intended to be insulting?? Because it was. Re: Crescents? Fibro fact ((Interesting)) Guess some people will believe anything they read. I like factual based info myself. Guest guest
Just thought I'd throw in my new info from earlier - I asked hubby to check his finger nails when he got home from work - he can vividly see the crescents on his thumbs, barley on his index finger, and cannot see them at all on the other fingers. That is how mine are too, as far as I can see - I have artificial nails so I can't see them through the acrylic, but I can see the thumb and index finger half moons through the acrylic. Anyhow just thought I'd share, hubby doesn't have fibro. >
Guest guest
I never said it was unique to Fibro. According to several medical websites; quite a few things can cause it. Guest guest
I never paid much attention to them in a long time. Many years ago a coworker told me something about if you are getting proper nutrition you could see your half moons on your thumbs. Years later, I went through a time when I wasn't eating enough (fibro related ibs, anxiety and depression resulting in inabiltiy to eat) and worried about being too thin and malnourished, so I'd check my half moons all the time for reassurance. I also would get a mark on one of my nails during a bout of tummy virus or other illness where I may not eat right for days. I'd have a white mark that would just stay on there til it grew out and I'd wonder if it was a mark from whatever bug. I haven't got one of those in a very long time though, not since I ate that bad peanut butter a year and a half ago. My nails have always been pretty thin and they do grow out when I'm getting good calcium, but then break because they are so flimsy. So I got me some fake ones at Christmas time. I like 'em now, they so purdy! Angie wrote: > I never said it was unique to Fibro.
