Guest guest
I KNOW THERE ARE ALOT OF CALORIES TO BE BURNT DOING JUST THINGS AROUND THE HOUSE, AND THIS IS WHAT I HAD BEEN DOING ALL ALONG AND FELT PRETTY GOOD THAT I COULD PUT ON THE MUSIC MOP MY WOOD FLOORS, VACUMN, DUST WITH A LITTLE TWIST ADDED HERE AND THERE. BUT NOW I PAY DEARLY FOR DOING THIS IN A TIMELY MANNER THAT BURNS ANYTHING EXCEPT WHAT ENERGY I MAY HAVE HAD TO DO SOMETHING FUN LATER IN THE DAY. I DID THOUGH HAVE FOR THE FIRST TIME THE BEST DAY YET. FELT SOMEWHAT NORMAL WHATEVER THAT IS. EVEN WENT TO THE STORE. THOUGH IT WAS PACKED AS EVERYONE WAS BRACING FOR THIS ??? SNOW STORM WE HAVE HAD. I FOUND MYSELF IN A FOG WITH SO MANY PEOPLE AROUND. ANYWAY, SOME OF US HAVE TROUBLE NOW DOING THE CALORIE BURNING THINGS WE ONCE DID, AND HOUSECLEANING WAS MY THERAPY!, I HAVE ALWAYS LOVED CLEANING, AND EVERYONE THAT KNOW ME TEASES HOW BAD I AM ON DOING IT NON STOP BUT LATELY IT IS A 2 DAY CHORE. I ALSO TRIED YARDS LAST SUMMER AND TO MUCH, SO WILL TRY THE YOGA. GOOD FOR THOSE WHO CAN CONTINUE WITH CALORIE BURNING AROUND THE HOUSE, KEEP IT UP AS IT IS A HELP. SHARON loveit1@... wrote: . The great news is that chores help you burn calories while you get things done! If you do them often enough, you won't have to go to the gym! Try turning on the tunes and moving briskly; add squats, biceps curls, and other moves as you go. You can burn 200 calories an hour mopping, vacuuming, or washing windows the same as medium-intensity aerobics; 400 calories per hour of mowing the lawn the same as cycling; and 500 calories per hour of washing and waxing the car the same as jumping rope! So don't delay! Get busy with that to-do list today! > > > If you start moving your body, your mind will follow! > > Human beings, who are almost unique in having the ability to learn from the experience of others, are also remarkable for their apparent disinclination to do so. > - > > > > >

We find ways of coping, and that often means that tasks that used to be done quickly and in one big push take a lot longer and must be split. Witness my French drain and stepping-stone path in my side yard, with the excavation done essentially a cup at a time, over several weeks. On Sunday I had company. Friday, I vacuumed and cleaned the rugs and straightened. Sat. I went to the grocery store. Sun all that was left was a couple of hours of food prep and setting out the food, then I could enjoy myself. Of course I had a flare Sunday, but enjoyed myself anyway. I will say that if I were working, I would not have been able to do any of it, including having people over. Z (now why couldn't the cats have furballs and throw up on the rugs *before* I cleaned them?!?)
