After a vestibulectomy: pregnancy and childbirth

Hi everyone. I just recently found out I was pregnant and am now about

12 weeks along. I was hoping to hear from those of you that have had

vaginal birth deliveries versus c-section. I have had a vestibulectomy

5 years ago and also have been diagnosed with lichen sclerosis. I have

always had it in my head to do a vaginal delivery but in talking with

my OB she said she would recommend doing a c-section...which I am

feeling more upset than I thought I would. Maybe it is just because of

my emotions but I would really love to get some feedback from those of

you that have had a vestibulectomy and your experience with childbirth.

Thank you for your support.

,

I haven't had a vestibulectomy but I have LP (very similar to LS) and

just had a drug-free vaginal delivery 3 weeks ago (time flies!). My

specialist (Dr. ) said she's seen just as many problems from c-

sections as from natural deliveries, and even though I tore, I am

recovering fine so far. C-section is major surgery and I would really

urge you not to take it lightly, and to also consider what is best for

the baby, as I am sure you are. Please email me if you want to chat

Congratulations!

I'm also preggo and 14 weeks along. The NVA did a study about women with vulvodynia and childbirth optinons and published it in their newsletter. I"m sure you could purchase it from them:

www.nva.org

I did not have a vestibulectomy but I'm much better. I did have a woman tell me that vaginal childbirth made her a lot better. And I've heard the opposite, too.

Hang in there,

Lindsey
