No. My sister has hers on her night table and has it on when she sits on the bed in the morning to get ready for work. That's maybe 20 min of exposure. Of course, there's always a cat in front of it. I used to have a small one on my desk at work that I would use on rainy/cloudy days. There was no cat in front of that one. You could stand it by an easy chair and sit in the chair with it on. In that case, you will have at least one cat on your lap. The cats, of course, insist that the proper way to use it is belly up, all four paws waving in the air, snoring. ;D Seriously, it is very relaxing, and when I lie down on the bed with it on, I generally end up napping. Note that you shouldn't use it late in the day; it may keep you awake at night. Best time is probably in the morning. Read the stuff at the sunbox site; ask your doc about it. Z (frequent applications of warm purring cats has been known to be therapeutic too.)
