Guest guest
Hi everyone, thanks so much for the replies! I have a long story but will cut it short. I'm asking those of you who are in my shoes to give me some advice of what has worked the best for you and what your Dr. has done. Most of all I want to know if what my Dr. did was " typical " . I thought I had Vaginismus, all of my signs and symptoms looked as thought that was the problem. I have had this problem for as long as I can remember. I am 24 years old and single so for me this has always been an issue but never as big of an issue as a married indavidual or someone in a relationship. my fear of seeking out what was wrong controlled me for over 10 years but along with the inability to have an exam, intercourse, etc. I also have savere pain associated with periods. Paralyzing pain to be exact! So I finally got enough strength to go to the Dr. and of course with no intent of having a exam, but I was able to! much to my surprise the Dr. was able to do it but with a little difficulty. He believes I have vestibulitis and he prescribed me Gabapentin, premarin cream and suggested that I damp dry when I use the restroom and apply olive oil to the area! And that I also purchase dilators and begin the process of dilating. So.... I am single and work a lot and just dont really have the motivation yet for dilating and I didnt feel comfortable taking Gabapentin due to the fact that its a seizure med and premarin is known to cause cancer. So I am curious what your Dr.'s have suggested for you to do, I hope theres a better answer. I do not want to be on a seizure med... But on the bright side he did prescribe my birth control and I am on month 3 of being pain free! I look forward to hearing from anyone willing to give their opinion. thanks, > > From: amandaplancarte84 > Subject: New here > To: VulvarDisorders > Date: Wednesday, October 1, 2008, 7:35 PM > > > > > Hi, are there many people here with vestibulitis? >
