Guest guest
I've had vulvar vestibulitis for 17 years. I developed VVS after the birth of my first son. Unfortunately, I wasn't properly diagnosed until 3 years later. I was determined to find out what was wrong. I spent one year with my first gyn doctor, who basically told me there was nothing wrong and it was all in my head. I kept going back, stating there definately was something wrong. I was in excrutiating pain. The pain kept getting worse. To make a long story short. I saw 10 doctors in the process of 3 years to search for a diagnosis. It was exhausting. I finally found a doctor, who was knowledgable regarding vulvar disorders. He put me on many different treatments and at the end of the year with many failed treatments. I opted for surgery. I was scared but felt I didn't have any other choice. I was unable to have sex with my husband. I had a 3year old son, who needed his mother. I was very depressed and lonely. No one to talk to about vvs but my family, who was very tired of hearing me talk about it. I had surgery in 1994 and slowly started feeling better. I went on to have 2 more children. I do have recurrent vvs usually every three years or so. I had a bad yeast infection last week and now my s/s of vvs are back. I am excited about this website because I have never spoken to anyone with vvs. I would love to hear from others with vvs. Thanks
